H.S. All-District Teams

Postby Stallion » Tue Dec 16, 2003 2:44 pm

Texas Prep X-Tra is starting to post the all-District teams and notable honorees include Vincent Chase and Scott Hall(Jr) both First Team picks in Class 8-5A. DeMyron Martin District MVP in 9-5A. Marcus Shavers(6-4,240,jr) First Team All-District. Interesting the Defensive MVP in 8-5a is a George Paongo(6-1,285) and he is from Irving. Haven't heard of him on the Recruiting Trail but maybe he is one of these Tongoans that Hawaii uses to beat our brain in every year. I think Alex Puhulu's brother was Co-Defensive MVP in 5-5A. Also, Bennett's brother was Coach of the Year in 8-5A.

Casey Fitzgerald, brother of Johnie, was a two-way First Team All-District selection at both WR and DB for an unheralded Red Oak team-there's your sleeper for you-haven't heard a word about him on the recruiting sites but I know he made big plays all year on both offense and defense for Red Oak. On offense alone he caught 17 passes for 499 yards which is almost 30 yards per catch. I know he intercepted at least 3-4 passes and returned them for TDs-think he also made some big plays on special teams too. Are we even recruiting him? Anybody got any vital stats on him?

Does SMU have any interest in the younger Fitzgerald?

Wilton McCray received a nice award being named Co-Defensive MVP in District 23-4A(along with Friendswood's Matt Butler) and unanimous All-District selection. He's still a little in the shadow of his LB teammate Rashard Bobino(UT commit) who was named District MVP.

Someone said here that he's going to play safety at SMU. If he has the speed they've said he has, he might turn out to be a real steal. I'm eager to see him play.
