Williams moved up his official visit to today through Friday. The 6-6, 245-pound Williams, who played left tackle on a 16-0 state champion, attracted scholarship offers from Southern Methodist, Tech, Missouri, Tennessee, Minnesota and Kansas.

Williams' popularity came out of nowhere, because he was a part-time defensive player his junior year who switched to offense this season. La Marque coach Bryan Erwin said Williams is an intriguing prospect because he has the frame to grow to 300 pounds, has timed 4.9 seconds in the 40 and won't turn 18 until June.

"Through the season, he started good and he finished great," Erwin said. "He really progressed as a player and an offensive lineman. The longer we played, the more people got to watch him. At the start of the football season, he was not even recruited. now he's one of our most highly recruited players."

Williams said he's weeded out most of the options, preferring to focus on the two Texas schools so he can stay closer to home.

"(Recruiting has) been crazy," said Williams, a half-brother of former Texas Longhorns defensive end Jermain Anderson. "It's been a lot to deal with. But it's cool. I like it."
