No, in Ohio they put a disgusting bean stew wth a little meat and almost no spice on their spaghetti.

He may have said "chile", but it was Shanghai Jimmy's Chili Rice he was talking about. Yes, chiles are peppers. They are an ingredient in chili. Shanghi Jimmy put chili on top of his rice...not peppers.

In Ohio they put chili on spaghetti.

Good thing we don't live in Ohio!

I think Elvis also liked the #9! There is an old John Anders DMN column
that mentioned this.

Now to nail the recipe so we can make our own. :~)

It sounds repugnant, but at the insistence of some of my cousins I tried it, and it wasnt as bad as it sounds. They love it, during their college years it was apparently a staple of their diet.

actually it is quite good - up North they call it "chili mac" - it was a staple at my house

That seems to be a northern thing, chili macs. There are two chili places here in DC that are worth going to: Ben's Chili Bowl (I hate to say it, but the best chili I've ever had - they have a couple of stores and a stand at the baseball stadium), and Hard Times Cafe (four kinds of chili with lots of choices - with beans, no beans, etc.) So, if you don't mind going into a rough part of town for a great bowl of chili, go to Ben's Chili Bowl or go to a Nats game.

Jimmy put the cheese on top of the rice and then topped it w/ chilli. It might not look as pretty but... the cheese melts that way.

But hey, I like Cinci chili.

There is also a Texas Style Chili Sketty. Wolf Brand, cheese, then tha sketty.

Cincinnati chili is an acquired taste. Many chili folks from Texas call it "Greek spaghetti sauce".

Elvis ate his chili over rice!

Ponyx2... about what you remember of Jimmy's chili rice? There are quite a few who would love to rec create his recipe. I am real close I think but there is disagreement if the meat was chopped or ground. What do you think Ponyx2... or anyone????

Does the section where food belongs not get looked at here? Maybe it needs some livinin up!
