Keep your fingers crossed ...coaches are

Postby Stampede » Tue Jan 27, 2004 9:31 am

making some very good and promising pitches to players commited elsewhere and are getting favorable reaction(s). SMU will, most likely, get a pleasant surprise soon.

Trust me, unless a player is a quality player....Bennett and staff are not offering a ship. If we get a commitment, two or three over the next week, it is from a player the coaches know can play.

Yes, the big surprise last year was Ryan Wolcott. He had committed to walk on at Tech and we got Doaks grandson when we offered a scholarship at the last minute I think. I am skeptical about a big surprise, but always hopeful.

No the BIG SURPRISE was Ricky Wilson who signed with Houston. Rynn Wolcott was the player who benefitted by Wilson's spot.

Everyone expected him to come here, even the Tech folks. Then it was Houston. It was strange for about a week waiting for that one to happen. Who was he friends with here? Daniel Francis? Was that his name? #7. Whatever happened to him? Did he go to UH too. Is he coming back here?

I think I heard that Daniel Francis had moved on to Houston, too. He and Wilson are very good friends.
