Bo Levi Mitchell: NEW AND IMPROVEDAfter being thrown into the fire as the Ponies' starting quarterback as a true freshman in 2008, Bo Levi Mitchell did a lot of good things: he threw for nearly 3,000 yards, cracked the 300-yard barrier in four games and fell two short of tying the SMU record for touchdown passes in a season. But he was far from perfect. As he and his teammates worked to pick up SMU head coach June Jones' new Run-and-Shoot offense, Mitchell also tied the school record for interceptions in a single season.
Mitchell didn't have the benefit of spring workouts before the 2008 season, and admitted that at times last summer, he was "lost" as he tried to absorb Jones' playbook. Named the starter during preseason workouts, Mitchell had to learn on the fly as he adjusted to the college game. Now, with a season and his first spring workouts on his résumé, Mitchell is leading the Ponies in their summer workouts and seven-on-seven drills. Thanks to his improved confidence and comfort level in the Run-and-Shoot, as well as the improvement he expects from some key teammates, Mitchell said the SMU offense could be far more dangerous in 2009. http://www.ponyfans.com/features/index.php?id=105 Enjoy! Great story as always. I fully expect us to be very stout on offense next year.
Back off Warchild seriously.
I like that Bo talks up the Sophomore receivers. We know that we've still got Sanders and Robinson for the coming season, and we've got Franklin, the Truth and Jobert coming in. But it's really nice to see that Haynes and Wilkerson may well fill the void as the younger guys come up.

Re: Bo Levi Mitchell: NEW AND IMPROVEDBo also talked up Padron...I think he really likes him and thinks he has potential running this offense.
Bowl Time...
Re: Bo Levi Mitchell: NEW AND IMPROVEDvery interesting. I'm curious to see how much BLM and SMU improve against TCU's d. Granted, we're not going to be quite as stout as we were last year. I don't think it'll be a good game, but it won't be as one-sided as last year's.
