ESPN now reporting that this info is coming from Crab's cousin and 'advisor'!

His agent is remaining tight-lipped.

Actually, Eugene Parker already come out and said that he hasn't made any kind of threats such as the one the "cousin" is making. Crabtree needs to tell his cousin to shut his yap and let his agent handle it.

Deion: "Oh! The phone is ringing!"
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

That would be a bad move on his part, what team would want him if he does this?

Sounds like he needs a new agent or needs to tell his cousin to back off. Great player, but doesnt deserve to be the highest paid rookie by any stretch

Haha...Funny thing is that Eugene Parker, Crabtree's Agent, was Deion's agent.

Crabtree skipping season makes little sense
August 6, 2009 2:00 PM

Michael Crabtree's cousin and adviser, David Wells, says the 49ers' first-round draft choice is "prepared" to sit out the season if a contract remains elusive.

As noted in the NFC West chat, I'll believe it when I see it, which likely means never.

Crabtree would be taking a colossal risk going that route. Receiving money now beats receiving money later. He would have to earn more on a 2010 contract agreement just to break even. He also could not know how teams would view him. Nine teams passed on him this year. Ten or more could pass on him next season, depending on a range of factors, including concerns about a difficult negotiation, how many underclassmen declare, draft order, etc.

Crabtree's agents would also be taking a colossal risk. Rival agents would likely seize the opportunity to convince Crabtree he was making a mistake. That shouldn't take much convincing, either, because sitting out the season would indeed be a mistake. The threat of it sounds more desperate than foreboding, at least at this point.

San Francisco 49ers, Michael Crabtree

im just curious but is there a process for "preparing" to sit out? i thought you just do it cuz its easier than doing anything at all.

i would like someone to remind me where Michael Crabtree is from, then consider where you think his cousin is from, and then think about why in the world he would know what he is talking about or what the consequences of his "advice" would be.

If he wanted to make #1 pick money he should have stayed at Tech another year or 2

that says it all, so true, he came out after only 2 years plus with an injury, when he was hurt and it was healing slowly, he should have just went back for his junior year, otherwise, he needs to realize he wasn't going to be paid like a number 1 pick.

he should get 1st round money...never #1 pick money....and yes i know in the context of the team he is the #1 pick money but i really hate hearing that.

Old trick in the playbook of negotiating thru the media. When you make this very public, you've just created more trouble for yourself.
