SELLOUT!!Moderators: PonyPride, SmooPower Re: SELLOUT!!I hope to God that there is a sellout, but what does that really mean? I don't mean to be a Negative Nancy, but the 3+ years on the Hilltop have not convinced me that a sell out of tickets translates into putting 35k butts in the seats. I'm pumped as the next guy, and will be pleasantly surprised when Ford is in fact rocking under the lights Saturday night.

Re: SELLOUT!!Regardless, there will be a lot more people and SMU fans cheering the team to victory than usual. The fact that so many tickets have been sold is great for the athletic department.
Re: SELLOUT!!
I completely agree, and much credit should go to the AD. I am still taking a "wait and see" approach. I have always said that there is some much potential for the SMU fan, and once they have a reason to cheer, everyone will come out of the woodwork to do so. Re: SELLOUT!!
Even the opening game with Kansas was "sold out" but there were empty seats for sure. i would love to see every seat full, but that is not realistic until victories and better opponents come through Ford. Sports, and all that implies.
Re: SELLOUT!!
But StallionsModelT instead of appreciating an SMU SELL OUT GAME shouldn't we be talking about how many people won't show up and how many more tickets Rice sold? ![]() C-ya @ Milos!
Re: SELLOUT!!For the record, I attended many of the Rice "Operation Sellout" games and I swear they never put 20k in the stadium.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: SELLOUT!!If we put on an awesome offensive show -like 60 plus points and a bunch of big plays-people will start coming back just for the "show". Hence, the reason JJ was brought here.
Re: SELLOUT!!I'm definitely in that "wait and see" group, but I hope I'm pleasantly surprised by a packed house...or at least close to it!
I do know first hand that all non-profit organizations had to do was email the ticket office and tell them how many tickets they could use and those tickets were promptly mailed to them. No clue how many organizations took advantage of this, but as long as they utilize the tickets they requested then that'll be great exposure for folks who normally would not be on campus.
Re: SELLOUT!!Whether it is a completely full stadium or not, the fact that the athletic dept has been able to generate this kind of interest in a game against a D.1AA opponent is encouraging if nothing else. If Ford is 80 percent full for the SFA game I'll be very happy.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: SELLOUT!!I have a feeling we're going to see huge swathes of DISD kids, FCA kids, etc. etc. I hope someone beats it into them that they need to be cheering for US and not SFA.

Re: SELLOUT!!With the lack of "name" opponent, we should be beside-ourselves-thrilled with anything over 18K. Kudos to the ticket group and committee on this one.
Re: SELLOUT!!
Agreed. You have to start somewhere!
Re: SELLOUT!!
The way I see it, exposing bunches of DISD kids to SMU football is a big positive. Who knows, some of them might end up being good football players a few years down the line.
Re: SELLOUT!!
Heck, we'd be lucky to even have that number on Labor Day weekend... Derail the Frogs!
