Believe me - the wife and I won't. No one is going to show up anyway after this first game anyway.

When you are sitting below the box seats the noise level is, no joke, as loud as being close to the stage at a metallica concert.

All the wealthy donors sitting in the stadium club seats need to spend one quarter down below and see how terrible and unenjoyable it is to sit in the actual stadium at an SMU game. it would be fixed within a week

Why is Orsini putting up with this? Doesn't care? Not a priority? Not as bad as you guys say? No $$$? What....?

I think Turner has given Steve O such a small budget that's what he has to work with - so he picks a wedding singer! yes, he did write that HORRIFIC pony up song. What an embarrasment -- why can't we mimic other college schools game days? TCU and Rice are so much better than ours.

Well then I owe an apology to the person who had the idea and actually mic'd them up. Certainly not to the person in charge of turning it on. Maybe the mic was actually on the SMU symphony.

I also think that SMU and some people on here are missing the point that the game itself is all that is important to fans. When you are talking about college sports, all of the pomp and circumstance is what makes the game enjoyable for many fans. Obviously I want to win and am very excited to be 1-0 but to just ignore all of the rest will definitely hinder any serious rebuilding efforts.

The old saying goes, "You get what you pay for." Orsini and Co. don't want to pay for a thing and the results show. It blows my mind that the sound system issue has never been addressed. Build a platform and hang the speakers next to the video board. Should have been done years ago. They could even sell advertisements sourrounding it since they are so concerned with the almighty dollar. They tried it for the first 2 games in 2007 and the speakers were too powerful at the time. Some adjustments could have been made and it would be better. I really wish our production people would take a field trip to UNT this weekend, then out to TCU next week to see how they do it. Their presentation blows ours out of the water. They have a month before the next home game. Plenty of time to make some changes.

I posted about this last night, and I agree with you all. Part of my problem is that the game time atmosphere is so poor, that I don't want to bring other people to the game, whether friends or clients. I've done that a couple of times in the past, and they all say the same thing, the game was "fun" but then mock the PA system, speaker, music, etc., and tell me how things are better at their kids' high school stadium.

The presentation should enhance the game, not take away from it.

If I had the $$$, I'd offer to fly our folks to other schools to get trained on how to do it right. This low performance level cannot continue.

Made a huge mistake bringing a Texas Tech alum coworker to the game last night. The game play I could make excuses for, but the game presentation was abysmal and, believe me, the coworker commented. He's a potential ticket sold for every home game this year but he was so underwhelmed he won't be back.

He IS going to the next TCU home game, however. Ugh.

Another issue that doesn't really have anything to do with the game presentation but more with the atmosphere - where were the flags that represent the retired numbers that hang above the north end zone? I'm sure 99% of the people didn't notice but it's another detail that was overlooked.

Maybe instead of asking donors to buy a bunch of tickets that no body used for a “sellout” they could ask them to help invest in improving the sound system in Ford. Also The fact that they have a wedding singer(robertleekobb.com) running the in game production is a joke. The administration says that want to be a top program but again and again they prove they don’t seem to understand what it takes.

Maybe they shouldn't have gotten rid of the marketing department and a bunch of others who actually understand the behind-the-scenes things that go into putting on an event. But that would really get in the way of getting a PA announcer who knows the players' names and reminding the on-field camera guys to shoot ONLY fans with SMU gear (or at least generic — not the opponents) on the videoboard. Whoever is in charge of in-game presentation now, from the administrative side, is fighting a major uphill battle.[/quote

I was thinking the exact same thing last night. Originally I had invited some coworkers to the game, but those plans fell through and I'm really glad they did! Between the play on the field and the overall presentation/atmosphere, it would've been really embarrassing.

It's just really sad they we finally have a really big crowd that contained who knows how many SMU first timers and most likely we scared them all away. I know the play on the field should be all the excitement that's needed at a college football game, but on nights when you back into wins vs. I-AA teams, you have to have something else up your sleeve to get this mighty SMU fan base awake (and clearly classical music and unbearable mic feedback isn't the answer!).

The more SMU & this administration says things are changing, the more they stay the same. Steve O's Top 25 in all we do just sounds more and more ridiculous every year. I still have faith in the football team and ultimately that's all that matters, but until the wins become a little more regular, it would be great if we could at least continue going to the games and actually enjoying them, win or lose! I'm starting the believe that my buddies who stay on the BLVD the whole time and listen to the game on the radio have the right idea!

Obviously Orsini believes the SMU presentation is Top 25. The words to describe our presentation this past game night, and over the past years, is pathetic and sad.
Orsini I hope your reading this strand, getting emails, or just simply listening to the masses. You control the change of game night presentation, and it is definitely bottom 25.
The presentation was much worse than the play on the field. Orsini should be ashamed.

I agree with all the above! I have no experience presenting a football game but I do have extensive experience in producing large outdoor music festivals, and what I see at the SMU football games is rather pathetic and amateurish.
Long live Inez Perez!
