Re: Evan Huahula QuitsI agree 100% with Billy Joe...why are people saying he will forever be a mustang and all that crap...because his mom posts on this board? He quit on the university, quit on June Jones who was the only d1A coach willing to offer him a scholarship and he quit on his teammates...what did he do for the team, the program or university that people are saying he will forever be a mustang?
The j-will situation is extrmeley different...he gave everything he had and then some to this program...and after two sets of unfortunate circumstances (his injury and tragic death of his father) decided to hang up his cleats.
Re: Evan Huahula QuitsEvan is a great kid, spoken to him on several occasions, I would say he is on the quite side, very polite, considerate. Hey, it didnt work out for various reasons, I hope he finds a place that is best for him. This happens in all football programs, players leaves, transfers to another school, finds a system that works and hopefully successful for the player.Evan may not play football again, who knows, he may just want to be a student and enjoy college life. Whatever you end up doing Evan, the best of luck to you.

Re: Evan Huahula Quitsbut you quit on the mustangs, so why would you be a mustang for life? BUS? explain?
Re: Evan Huahula QuitsIt's true that's his parents are good people, and I wish them all the best. Anyone that has attended camp workouts, and I saw a bunch, knows that Evan looked miserable, disinterested, unmotivated, like he wanted to be anywhere else, take your pick. It's no sin, or crime, but it wasn't a good match anymore. Good luck Evan and family.
Re: Evan Huahula QuitsI don't see how we can pass judgement on him until when/if we find out the complete details on why he is leaving.

Re: Evan Huahula Quits
Maybe Bus knows the family personally and simply wants to say the polite thing? I do not know this family, but I do appreciate his Mom’s enthusiasm and support of her son and SMU. Evan, like 99% of the kids that come to SMU on a football scholarship, will not make a career out of professional football. I hope for his part he understands the importance of getting his degree so that he can prepare himself for life after college football. Best Wishes Evan to you and your family.
Re: Evan Huahula QuitsWhether his family is nice or not, the FACT of the matter is he quit. I don't think anybody here should be slamming the guy just yet, maybe there IS more to this story, but if, and only if, he quit because he felt he was OWED a spot and didn't have to bust his [deleted] like everyone else -- then he ISN'T a Pony. In that case, he let down his team, the fans, and his coaches; he left the Uni, not vice-versa.

Re: Evan Huahula QuitsHopefully we use his scholarship to get another D-Lineman instead of taking another WR!
Re: Evan Huahula Quitsmaybe there will be a JUCO DL waiting in the wings?
Re: Evan Huahula QuitsI just wonder to what extent his academic struggles played a role in this.

Re: Evan Huahula QuitsI wish Evan and his family the best. I feel for his Mother who obviously is very proud of her son. Maybe a change of scenery will be good for Evan. I heard he wasn't super motivated and that he would play [deleted] one play and then take a couple of plays off. Best of luck to Evan and his family.
Re: Evan Huahula QuitsI have just learned from a reliable source that the reason Evan is transferring is that he feels that was not able to bring D! performance to SMU due to his lack of high school football experience. He is not only doing this for himself but for the team. He felt that there might be a more qualified player that could use his scholarship on the future recruiting classes. He is going to try to transfer to a lower division school to redshirt and gain experience. He wishes the team well.
