I'm sorry you should not be going on the road to play games where the word guarantee usually comes in front of them.
There is no such a thing as guarantee win in college basketball...! Even the worst teams typically put up a very good fight at home, especially against clearly stronger team... I do agree with you, SMU should play more competative schedule but at the end of the day it's really not up to us.

I was just checking out Nortwestern's schedule & too bad they aren't coming to Moody this season. I was looking forward to seeing us play a Big 10 school @ home.

Don't think they cancelled, we really had no agreement in place...we played them up there and they would try and get down here type of thing....just couldn't find a date that would work this year for both schools...maybe next year.

hopefully SMU will be more competitive by the time Northwestern does make the return trip. There are cost associated with bringing in any opponent from a BCS league. Northwestern is not what I would call a quality program or big draw. Just like football, we just need to continue building the talent level to the point where Dallas will take notice and support SMU athletics because SMU is putting a top 25 caliber program on the field/court. We need to be able to sell 25k football and at least 6-7k bball tickets to people supporting SMU...regardless of who the opponent is. Until that is accomplished...who cares about Northwestern? They won't help fill Moody.

I go to almost all the games @ Moody & I'd much rather c us play Northwestern than Houston Baptist, USC Upstate, Paul Quinn, Ark Pine Bluff, etc. & I can guarantee u the players would rather be playing Northwestern.

I recently talked to former SMU assistant Robert Brickey and he informed me that his current school, NCCU (North Carolina Central University I believe), will be playing SMU on Jan. 9th this season...so add another mystery school to the schedule!

Huston-Tillotson? What the hell is that? At Occidental College? Is that the fictional school that Western U played against in Blue Chips? My oh my, we have found schools to play that make Houston Baptist and other schools on our schedule sound legit. I'm gonna say it right here, right now: the A&M game at home is a must win for Doh. Basically its the only opportunity all season to grab a good, difference making win. I take that back, UNLV would be good win, but Doh needs a legit home win early in the season like nobody's business.

I'm going to be bold enough to say that I shamed them into posting it.

my Tulsa buddy says "not too bad" on the schedule. I have to disagree. UNLV - have they been relvant since Larry Johnson? Aggie is about the only thing to get excited about. TCU will smoke us with their good recruiting and better coach.
I guess a step up from the Houston Baptists and UAPB's. --- anyway, "doh must go"

Yeah UNLV has been solid since Lon Kruger got there. They've been to the NCAA tournament 3 straight years and got to the sweet 16 two years ago. Second round last year. And they have some interesting players on that team. Kruger is the best coach to come there since Tarkanian left.

Good points on UNLV and Kruger..they will always be relevant..that town loves the Runnin Rebs....I like the schedule as its a step above last year and is moving in the right direction and they just have to have some supposed easy ones to give the boys a chance to jell and give them more confidence....now next year we should a step above this one too. And c'mon lets give it a rest on Northwestern.....they will come.
