You could be a "baby" on one play or be a baby for the rest of your life.

or you can know what you are doing, having been well coached. Everybody on the football field is always one hit away, equipment or no. If you don't understand or can't comprehend that, maybe you should be cheering on the volleyball team at this time of year. Football ain't for you

Great example of someone playing smart. Notice he knows there is nobody in front of him who could hit him or that he has to hit; so, he safely continues the play.

There are times when you continue to play because of the situation and as you say you "know what you are doing" -- see witten video -- he doesn't get hit and he knows he is not going to get hit. There is nobody in front of him. He played smart. In my view, making a hard hit without a helmet is not smart and glorifying it on TV for kids to see as something great is worse. If you feel a helmet-less hit is smart because everyone is already one hit away, you're right -- I don't understand and can't comprehend that logic. When you get in your car, you are one hit away. That doesn't justify driving recklessly. And I do like watching womens volleyball.

You keep talking about these players ending up with a spinal injury of some sort. That can happen just as easily with a helmet on, and I would argue that it does happen more often with a helmet on. With out a helmet you will not lead with your head. The tcu kid threw a shoulder and an elbow. While at SMU a made two tackles without a helmet. Take your skirt off Nancy. This is football not futbol.

I have seen tons of guys quit when they get hurt during a play or have an equipment failure, it makes me sick. This is an aggressive sport for aggressive players. If guys are worried about getting hurt, they are not giving a full effort. There are a handful of plays that define a game. This was one of those plays and without that effort this play doesn't happen.

No doubt about it, they did a good job of thoroughly kicking the f____s in the mouth.

Thanks for your concern. Your mistake, of course, is that the young man's name is Kent Waldrep. http://www.summitartists.com/kent/kent.htm
