Yeah, it's pretty incredible that we're now 5-6 yrs removed from the Dement era and now we'd kill just to get back to one of his average seasons. And those teams accomplished winning records year in and year out while being forced to take on guarantee games.
Now we refuse to at least collect a paycheck for our losing and yet can't come close to the 17-18 win mark! Here's hoping this slow, slow tearing down and rebuilding project is finally going up!

It's certainly been an interesting, if not tumultuous process. Dement was uninspired towards the end, and Tubbs left the cupboard pretty bare. Doh didn't help his own cause w/awful roster management & the infamous 7 man debacle. Despite the slash and burn mentality, and the epic losses, I'm hopeful we'll turn the corner this year. Add Clinkscales and the soph class is very good. We're a few dynamic pieces from being legit. Hopefully we find quality big and soon.

Doh actually had his best year with the team he inherited from Tubbs (14-17). If he can't get to that mark in year 4 with his players and a fairly experienced roster, then...well you know...

We are no longer a "young" team in terms of playing time. We have 3 JC players who should all see big minutes. McCoy started from Day 1. Dia has plenty of experience. Everyone on the bench (with the exception of TK) saw plenty of playing time last year.

I'm certainly not going defend some of Dohs methods, or his need to win now. That said, this team stands to be ok this year, pretty good next, and good the following year. To me, the '10 recruiting class is huge. We need an impact big, dynamic wing & true PG. If we do this, we star to set up nicely. I think we grab a quality local or two in '11, or that's how it's setting up this far in advance.

More then anything, I'd like to see Doh trim the rotation. I have recurring nightmares that Harp is taking Haynes minutes, and Clinkscales is sitting behind Walker.

Lets not write them off just yet. I played with alot of guys who really improved from one season to the next. Some out of the blue, totally unexpected. Some later than others. Don't forget what Ike did a few years back. Totally unexpected.
I think both Harp & Walker have shown that they can contribute.
Harp had a bad year last season but we all saw some positives his freshman year.
Obviously u can't have a guy on the court who can't/won't shoot the ball. Unless totally Doh whipped & brainwashed, I can c him getting some PT. Lets not forget he has shown that he can score in the past.
With Walker, has he improved his bhandling? A SG in a PG body. If he has made the transition than it can be very positive. Plus, Walker played good last season & hit some key shots.

If these 2 guys busted their butts over the summer & show up everyday @ practice doing as good or better than Haynes, Clink, etc. than they deserve to play.

I understand the concern, but this issue is a little premature IMO. Give em a chance to improve & we will c how this rotation shakes out.

I see your point but I don't know if Doherty is in a position where he can really risk that and experiment because the only letter he needs to be concerned about this year is W.

If we believe Clinkscales, Williams and McCoy will be on the floor a lot, I'm just wondering where Walker is going to get the minutes. If Harp turns into a great defender like he appeared to be last year, I would gather he would be one of those situational type of substitutions, defense for offense late in games and maybe thrown in there to shut down somebody's go-to guy if he understands his job is to defend, rebound, cover and take the occasional shot.

Just some quick thoughts. BTW, I think this is a better looking schedule. You'll always have cupcakes. But the tournament in Hawaii is a great opportunity.

Oct. 15 can't get here quick enough.

I think you will see us play a lot of 3 guard lineups. CUSA is a small conference. Much of our OOC schedule is also small. We can throw a lot of small line-ups out there and do some run and gun.

I really think we have upped the level of talent on our roster compared to any time in the last few years. We are deeper and more athletic than we have been in a long time and have a couple of guys that are legit players. now Coach needs to get wins from that talented group. I think he will.

One key point I am hoping for. Reggie 1 and Reggie 2 to convince Doh to loosen up a little bit in 2nd halves when we have the lead. We always try to take the air out of the ball and there is no more certain way to kill your teams' rhythm.

Just get the 5 best guys on the floor and let them play. If it means playing 3 or 4 guards, so be it. Let the other teams adjust to our personnel. I really hope Doh lets the starters develop a rhythm to start the game instead of mass subbing before the under 16 timeout. College basketball is so broken up by timeouts that he can afford to stretch them out. It's frustrating to see guys like Rob N. or Alex Malone (yes I know he's gone) play scared because they know they will get yanked the first time they make any kind of mistake. These kids need to know what their roles are. Doh has shown no pattern on who he plays or sits from game to game. This could be a partial reason for the mental mistakes by so many guys. They never know when they'll be used.

On the flip side, if Mike Walker or one of the other bench players has the hot hand, ride him...even if it means Williams or McCoy are on the bench. Win the game and worry about everything else later.

I like Haynes at the 3 in a 3 guard look. Gotta keep one of the little guys fresh. Otis at the 3 when we need more muscle.

If you do not see at least one of your 2010 three (3) "dream need" positions filled on the November early signing date, you will not see any of these 3 positions being adequately filled for 2010. In my opinion, Doh is in huge trouble if he does not have at least top one top talent committed and signed next month. At this time, I cannot find any information that would lead me to believe he has such a talent lined up and ready to commit.
