Don't Mic The BandPlease, Please, Please. It dosen't work with the PA sound being a half second ahead of the actual sound from the band. Our band does not need a mic. It can be heard on the west side with out the mic.
Drove me crazy all night. Just send 'da money.
Re: Don't Mic The BandCould not agree more. It sounded terrible.
Re: Don't Mic The BandAlso, you can hear them talking between plays.
Re: Don't Mic The BandIt sounded like a little kid had stolen the PA and was making random crazy comments.

Re: Don't Mic The BandYou could probably hear my cursing then. Maybe I should watch that.

Perhaps if you stand right next to the mic all game they'll get rid of it..... "I think Couchem is right."

Re: Don't Mic The Bandmight be funny to put the Kappa Kappa Gammas next to the mic next time to provide humorous commentary on the game. Really unprofessional. I don't think SMU wants to gamble on what might be said by a drunk student.

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Don't Mic The BandWell, I liked the band on the pa system. last year they played crappy music on the pa system while the band played. I'll take the mustang band over the junk they played last year.
Re: Don't Mic The Band
I agree with you there Stallion. They should be able to cut the mic off after the band plays. Last edited by az1 on Sun Oct 11, 2009 9:29 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Don't Mic The Band
I always assumed half the band was hammered anyway during the game. And I mean that in a good way
Re: Don't Mic The Band
You clearly weren't paying attention because it sounded awful. You can still have them play without being mic'd. The sound system there is more of a hinderance than help. Unfortunately, this is probably something someone higher up wanted.
Re: Don't Mic The BandIt didn't sound bad to me over on the west side. In fact, I kind of liked hearing the band loud and clear.
I didn't like the mic being left on when the band wasn't playing. That's asking for trouble. And I really didn't like hearing that awful rap spong and other taped music being played between plays. What is this, arena football? Yes, the band can be heard without being mic'ed, but it's not very impactful with a band so small. The band sounds small and distant, compared to large college bands, from the other side of the stadium without a little amplification. Love the band, just wish it were bigger.
Re: Don't Mic The BandI fear to think what a mic would pick up from some of the band members I know.
Re: Don't Mic The Band
Band on the p.a. is a good thing. Play on. Need a Diamond M for "Varsity" at pre-game, though. Really good halftime show. Solid core (200?) of student support - stayed (believe it) and cheered the ENTIRE game. Last edited by Bergermeister on Mon Oct 12, 2009 3:22 pm, edited 1 time in total.
