20-10 Prediction in BB"With a quarter of a tank of gas, we can get everything we need right here in DFW." -SMU Head Coach Chad Morris
When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: 20-10 Prediction in BBThat is in line with most of the national publications that have us finishing 6th...I think 20 wins is entirely possible. With our non conference schedule, if we can finish 6th or better in CUSA, we will have 20 plus wins and a nice season on our way to rebuilding..

Re: 20-10 Prediction in BBI sure hope that is somewhat accurate...it would be nice to see a 20 win record again and maybe make at least the NIT Postseason...it will save Dohs job...
Re: 20-10 Prediction in BBI see SMU getting 16-19 wins and a birth in the CIT or CBI...baby steps.
Re: 20-10 Prediction in BBwhen i first saw the post on the basketball page I thought stallion was predicting 20 wins. lol

Re: 20-10 Prediction in BBAny post season for us would be a rebirth. Or perhaps a resurrection.
All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: 20-10 Prediction in BBI see us winning 15 0r 16 w/no postseason anything. That coupled w/the youth of the backcourt will get Doh an extension.
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.â€- Jalen Jones
Re: 20-10 Prediction in BB
I agree that the 15-16 win mark is a reasonable goal for this team. I think they have the talent to be better than that and will be thrilled with 17-20 wins, but a lot will have to go right to make that kind of leap in one season. Papa Dia is still a huge question mark. I think Mo Faye can be a solid player, but I don't think I'm quite as high on him as others are. Hopefully the leadership he showed on his national team this summer carries over and he can consistently provide an all around game night in and night out. Outside of McCoy and Williams (and probably Faye too), I'm very curious who is going to step up and contribute regularly. There are several candidates but someone (Rob N? Haynes?) needs to assert themselves -- which is tough if Doh sticks with his bizarre substitution pattern. And that leads to my biggest question mark -- Coach Doh. He now has a full roster of his players and there is decent talent to work with, so is his coaching going to bring out the best in these guys or hinder them? I think postseason play is still a pipe dream. Assuming C-USA is once again a very average basketball conference with very little national respect, I doubt SMU will be high enough in the standings to even garner any discussion of playing in the NIT or that other new tourney. But I have no problem being wrong either... 15-16 wins - a good season for this team 17-20 wins - a great season Under 15 win - let the coaching search begin...
Re: 20-10 Prediction in BBI agree Frisco. If we can't manage to break even this year then Doh needs to go.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: 20-10 Prediction in BBThat HAS to be a given.....he has to produce this year....15-17 wins are it.......20 is a pipe dream I think, but would be nice....Dia and Faye are key as McCoy will hold his own but he has to have the pounders down low for help....
Re: 20-10 Prediction in BBI have to ask again......who will play the 2? And who will be the scorer on this team?
SMU-12 NCAA appearances, 1 Final Four
2014-15 & 2016-17 AAC Men's Basketball Champs
Re: 20-10 Prediction in BB
We return 3 bouble digit scorers from last season. Dia scored 9 as a frosh and my money is on him returning to that level of contribution, if not higher. Clinkscales averaged 18-20 as a freshman in JUCO last year. Both Haynes and Nayakundi showed flashes of guys that could score double digits over the course of this season. How is that for scoring potential for you?
Re: 20-10 Prediction in BB
I am convinced that Doh gets this year & next regardless. I don't think the 2 new assistants would have come here if they felt Doh's job was in that much jeopardy. I saw a publication yesterday that picked us 10th. If that happens than obviously it was another bad year. However, I think we are going to surprise some people & finish around 18 wins with a shot @ a post season tournament. "We have a great bunch of outside shooters. Unfortunately, all our games are played indoors."
Re: 20-10 Prediction in BBPapa is pretty much a mystery man at this point and until we see Clinkscales in game action, not sure how any real predictions can be made for this team. I'd like to see what a lineup of McCoy, Williams/Clinkscales, Haynes, Faye and Dia could do. Seems like either Williams or clinkscales will be the scoring spark off the bench as the 6th man, and Otis would be your rebounding/defensive spark as the 7th man. Key to me is actually Haynes. I think we need his size and athleticism at the 3. If he has a breakout year, this team could be much better than last year and it needs to be much better.
forgot about Nyakundi. Love the way he shoots it, but not sure where he fits. Seems too stiff to play the 3 and not physical enough to play the 4.
