Thank you.

Re: Moderator Please Move Horse Discussions
Amen to that. The damage being done by this over-load of horse talk can not be measured. This endless horse talk is running off SMU fans and recruits from reading this board. Others have PM'd me with the same sentiments.
Re: Moderator Please Move Horse Discussionshave you gotten any INTRA-office mail complaints as well. The problem was created by one colassal mistake by SMU administration. Thanks a lot SMU for running off our recruits.

If they were truly that concerned about it, they would have PMed the moderators and not you.
Re: Moderator Please Move Horse Discussions
Sorry, you have to be high if you think that.
Re: Moderator Please Move Horse Discussions
Per the Administration, Peruna is staying and two Mustangs will be presented during the Navy game. In addition, this is putting SMU in-front of schools across the country (texas?) that have similar mascotts and bringing many notable athletes and others to be part of the SMU community. All are entitled to their opinion, but the only thing "colossal" were all the unsubstantiated claims.
Re: Moderator Please Move Horse Discussionssome of you don't read very well and have serious comprehension problems. Orsini admits he's heard the complaints-but he can not confirm whether the Big Phony Ponyz will be making future appearances, Until that confirmation that they will not make future performances is received its a free and open debate throughout the university as to what role Peruna and the two Big Phony Ponyz will play. I call on the SMU administration to stop hurting SMU recruiting by clearly stating that Peruna is the one and only Mascot and the two Big Phony Ponyz will play no further role at SMU Football Games.

Re: Moderator Please Move Horse Discussions
I know that there are some silly reasons that a recruit might choose one school over another. HOWEVER, the choice of the school's mascot is so far down the list, it can't even be seen from where "chance to play as a freshman/sophomore" "television/big school/conference exposure" and "coach of the team" are. Stallion doesn't think I'm a stinkin' genius anymore.

Re: Moderator Please Move Horse Discussions"Running them off this board" <> "Causing them to choose another school"
Or more accurately... "The coolest fan forum in the universe" <> "SMU stealing recruits from UT (or even TCU or Tech, for that matter)" Hey, I'm a newbie (although I read for a long time before I ever registered) and the horse talk is just about bad enough to get me to go browse Facebook or something. I don't mind a thread, or two, or even three. But there was a point last week where 85% of the threads on the first page were horse, T. Boone, or one of Patton's ridiculous fake story threads. That's a bit much. Stallion doesn't think I'm a stinkin' genius anymore.
Re: Moderator Please Move Horse Discussions
Steve's letter: ------------------------- Dear Mustang Fans: With our game against Navy just days away, I wanted to take a moment to address the concerns several of you have voiced in recent days involving our beloved live mascot, Peruna. First and foremost, let me stress that Peruna, the black Shetland pony who made his first appearance at a campus pep rally in 1932, is and will continue to be our mascot. -------------------------- Using reading comprehension, clearly Peruna will continue to be our mascot; so, the only thing open for debate around the University is if and how the two mustangs may be used. It would be considerate for those who wish to debate if and how the mustangs may be used, to do so on the Around the Hilltop section. Thanks.
Re: Moderator Please Move Horse DiscussionsThis is an important issue and the Administration is at fault for it simmering like it has. They have brought this to the forefront by making a it a big deal in an important game and have not dispelled the concerns most of us have. As others have said Orsini, could have clarified the roll of the gifts, but chose not to, that says it all. This gimmick would have been on the hilltop page if the administration had handled it appropriately.
Name a recruit that has been run off by this - that is a joke of an argument. I guess you the new horses will bring back all those fans. What has run off fans and recruits is bad football. An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and
doesn't care who wins. -- Dwight D. Eisenhower
Re: Moderator Please Move Horse DiscussionsI invoke the Doctrine of Optional Completeness
The portions you conveniently omitted clearly leave the debate open -not to mention hurt our recruiting-thanks SMU: "How these animals will be involved in our future game presentation is YET TO BE DETERMINED." The new Mustangs WILL BE a welcome addition at SMU. The feisty energy of Peruna and the powerful presence of our new Mustangs will underscore the football team's theme of "All Grit. No Quit." Peruna represents a proud tradition, and the rescued Mustangs have shown the rugged determination to survive and thrive - a fitting metaphor for Mustang athletics. Together, THEY WILL REPRESENT a spirited tradition at SMU which is enjoyed by students, parents, alumni and other Mustang fans."
