You would think so (or at least some variation of it.)

With Navy not having a huge threat on the deep ball, I think it would make sense to pull the extra man out of the secondary. Plus, with corners who don't have a lot of experience at keeping contain on the option, I think it would make sense to use that guy as kind of a converted Rover.

Pretty sure that there were a lot of people saying that back when Dutch Meyer's Double Wing formation spread throughout the country the first time.

Only thing about any option offense is that when they get behind in the score it is tough to come back because they usually can not pass very well. It will not come back.

I am sure Kate will tell us since she has already alerted the world (which includes the Navy coaches) that we are going to us the 4 man front. I guess they will not be caught off guard now.

Are you serious? It is her job to report. If the SMU coaches did not want the Navy coaches to know they would not have told her.

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I don't think its a bulletin to Navy that defenses are going to modify their defense to stop the option.

Cut blocks are a major issue when playing Navy. Last year I posted that Pitt coaches had told me that they routinely expect to lose 2 or 3 D linemen to injury for extended periods of time after playing Navy due to cut blocks. Coaches constantly reminded their D line in practice about these blocks and worried about the D becoming too concerned/cautious.

So what is the difference between a cut block and a chop block, which is illegal? And if cut blocks cause so many injuries why isn't it illegal?
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I find it interesting that they did tell her that knowing she would report it...reverse physchology to give their coaches something extra to think about?...besides it didn't help us much last year when we ran a 4-3.....much better D-line than last year though

I believe a chop block is defined as the defensive player is already engaged with a block up top, and another offensive player takes him out down low

Also illegal if a WR comes from outside "the box" and cuts, say, a linebacker. Not that that is likely to happen too often, just saying.
