Mustang Club Luncheon

Postby Hilltop » Mon Nov 02, 2009 2:31 pm

I just wanted to make a quick comment on how great the attendance at the luncheon was today. If you have not made it out to one, you are really missing out. The energy in the room today was amazing and the analysis by the coaches was great as always.

At the same time though, I wanted to remind those who attended for their first time to please NOT post information from the luncheon. We are very lucky to have these every week and I hope that it continues in the future.

They set up two extra tables. The room was packed, some standing in the back.

Cogill told a joke about what to say to a woman from Montana (a shout out to def coordinator Tom Mason, who grew up in Montana and was in attendance).

Probably okay to divulge this: Mason got a standing 'o' when introduced.

It's fun when you start to win. A university's football program is THE galvanizing agent. Nothing else comes close.

I was there today and it's incredible how positive the entire room was not just from the win this weekend, but as they talked about the future and all of the freshmen and sophomores on this team. That's what really got the room stoked. THE FUTURE!!

Can I ask why a synposis can't be posted?

Understand we don't want to give away info Rice could use, but understanding what was said about last weeks game would be great.

Unfortunately getting to downtown for lunch is a challenge for some of us.

I wasn't there, but I'm sure the coaches said they "...were pleased with most of what they saw at the Tulsa game, but there is still room for lots of improvements." :)

OK, just having a little fun here, but seriously...coach speak is pretty predictable. One speach for a good game and one for a bad game. The analysis though of the actual plays during the game was probably very interesting. Wish I could have been there.

SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.

I don't understand this either... 50% of SMU alumni live out of Texas and have no way of hearing this...I would go if I could and would certainly like to hear what was said...

This was my first luncheon of the season. All I can say is that we, as SMU fans, are pretty lucky that we got a good meal and a great opportunity to listen to coaches talk candidly about the game and the players that play them and the coaches that coach them for $15. I don't know what you would have to donate at Texas to get something similar, but I have to assume it is thousands of dollars.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Radisson - across Central from SMU -make a point to go next Monday - it is well worth the effort. Easy to get to and easy parking close to the door to the banquet room. Pay at the door or you can RSVP and charge it. You will like it and you'll be back. The enthusiasm is contagious. Outstanding job by the two coordinators today. BEAT RICE.

Yes, it only costs us $15 and over two decades of suckage.
I know what you mean, though. I think about that every time I park close to the stadium, cruise in 1 minute until kickoff, I get to sit close to the 50 and prop my feet up on the vacant seats in front of me, no lines at the concessions stands or bathroom. I guess losing has it privileges too.... :(
