So your passionate adherence to their comparative records is weak. Even if we take all the obvious on-the-field evidence out of consideration it took Bennett 5 years to get a team to the point where it could win 6 games and JJ has done it in 2 years. Add to this the fact that Bennett could only get to six wins with a team largely made up of seniors and it is clear that JJ has the team improving at a far better rate.

Oh, and one last thing, Bennett NEVER got 5 Conference wins in one season. NEVER.

And please tell me you did not graduate from SMU with such a pitiful inability to express ideas. Try some different phrasing or something, you sound dull enough to be a UNT grad.

Your description of the Hawaii bowl is interesting, considering we haven't been to ANY bowl in 25 years. I'll be proud to see my team in a bowl this year.

To suggest he wanted to do that "when we were champions" is nothing more than pot-stirring. Coach Jones' statements included the word "IF" ... acknowledging that we have not yet won a conference championship. We will - maybe this year, maybe another year. But we will. We're not champions yet, so you can't say "when we were champions" ... except that it makes you feel like your statement has more impact. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

wow, bagice is a lame crap [deleted] excuse for a fan... Im a hawaii fan at heart and through JJ im a SMU fan, but I'm probably a bigger SMU fan than bagice is on a good day... Hes worse than Hawaii fans, atleast they started turning on him after a few seasons, but bagice has already turned on him in like 2 and could possibly finish with the best record in 25 years, regardless of who they've played. Its pretty irrational to compare what JJ has done in year 2 to what Bennet did during his entire stint at SMU... JJ is head and shoulders above Bennet, and has a proven track record of putting together a winning program... His time in Hawaii has proven that...

His record in Hawaii,

1998 - 0-12 vonappens final year as Hawaii's HC, compiled a 17 game losing streak...
1999 - 9-4 w/ bowl win over oregon st. and ncaa best single season turnaround in history.
2000 - 3-9 DC left, and so did a lot of seniors from graduation.
2001 - 9-3 smoked #8 BYU 72-45
2002 - 10-4 first back to back wining record since 1990, first double digit win season since 1992
2003 - 9-5 beat Alabama and Houston in the hawaii bowl.
2004 - 8-5 Beat Big10 teams Northwestern and Michigan St. in order to become bowl eligible... won against UAB in Hawaii Bowl.
2005 - 5-7 graduated our starting QB and almost all our WRs and RB... introducing Colt Brennan and the Dread Heads...
2006 - 11-3 beat Purdue, lost to oregon st by 3, then came back and beat arizona st 41-24 in the Hawaii bowl.
2007 - 12-1 earned a bowl berth to the prestigious sugar bowl and a top 10 ranking... also beat Boise St giving them 1 of their 4 conf losses in their 10 years as a wac member.
2008 - 7-7 McMackin took over after SMU bought JJ.
2009 - 5-6 Macks 2nd year as Hawaiis HC...

I'd love to go to a bowl game, and I could care less where it is or who its against... and after 25 years of no bowl games or post season anything, i would've thought you'd feel the same, but i guess you cant please everyone...
