Kevin Sherrington Blog - easily a sub- .500 team11:08 [Comment From PopPop: ]
Are you surprised with how quickly June Jones is making SMU respectable? Tuesday November 24, 2009 11:08 Pop 11:10 Kevin Sherrington: Let's consider what's happened: His special teams, and in particular, Margus Hunt, have directly contributed the difference in three games. That's an unbelievable stat. Had the special teams not been so good, they'd easily be a sub-.500 team. Having said that, Jones has also made special teams a focal point, something Phil Bennett didn't do. Jones is a good coach, and I figured he'd turn it around. But, yes, two seasons is a little quicker than I thought. Tuesday November 24, 2009 11:10 Kevin Sherrington Peruna is my mascot!
Re: Kevin Sherrington Blog - easily a sub- .500 teamaccurate appraisal...however, equally accurate is that we could be 8-3
we ARE 6-5...let's move on to bigger and better. stable-boy for the four horsemen of the apocalypse
Re: Kevin Sherrington Blog - easily a sub- .500 teamI am tired of this "we aren't good because we are winning on special teams" argument. Special teams are part of the game, and many many games are won or lost because of execution or lack of execution on special teams. No one ever says Virginia Tech isn't that good because they are good on special teams--it is usually stated that Virginia Tech IS a good team because of the focus on special teams.
Re: Kevin Sherrington Blog - easily a sub- .500 teamtake away Michael Crabtree last year, and Tech sucked.
Re: Kevin Sherrington Blog - easily a sub- .500 teamYeah well the record is what it is. Shoulda woulda coulda.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Kevin Sherrington Blog - easily a sub- .500 team
this is a great point. VT is always know for special teams and defense. For the most part these two phases have got us to where we are. The D is banged up and struggling a little right now, which would be a good time for the O to really show up. ![]()
Re: Kevin Sherrington Blog - easily a sub- .500 teamTake away Sam Bradford and Oklahoma is ..... oh, yeah.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: Kevin Sherrington Blog - easily a sub- .500 teamWe can definitely use some fortunate luck. Shoulda won those two OT games too. Whatever...he's probably not even watched a game before.
Re: Kevin Sherrington Blog - easily a sub- .500 teamhe's a [deleted]. wait, he is a sub-.500 [deleted].
Re: Kevin Sherrington Blog - easily a sub- .500 team
This guy has never watched or attended one SMOO game this season and that is obvious by his stupid comment. Life after Death (Penalty)
Re: Kevin Sherrington Blog - easily a sub- .500 team
I have attended several and there is nothing stupid about his comment. We could just as easily have lost two more as we could have won two more. I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.
Re: Kevin Sherrington Blog - easily a sub- .500 teamWe ARE a 6-5 team. The bad luck against WSU and Navy is offset by our maybe winning a couple of games we shouldn't have. I know Kevin personally and you are right: He hasn't been paying sufficient attention.
Re: Kevin Sherrington Blog - easily a sub- .500 teamWhat bad luck against wsu and navy are you speaking of? you mean terrible quarterback play and not knowing how to go for the throat when we have a lead? Thats not bad luck...
Re: Kevin Sherrington Blog - easily a sub- .500 teamThen let me rephrase. The underperforming against WSU and Navy is offset by our overperformance against a couple of teams.
Re: Kevin Sherrington Blog - easily a sub- .500 teamLast I checked special teams are a part of the game so I don't really understand that being a cheap way to win. We've certainly been on the short end of some special teams gaffs. Hell we had the ECU game on ice were it not for a kickoff return for a TD. We are what we are and will more than likely end the season with 7 wins. Any way you slice it that is a complete success for this team.
Back off Warchild seriously.
