Problems at ticket boothSMU must fix problems at the ticket booth in order to get more people into the stadium next year. There were people that didn't even bother going into the stadium because the ticket lines were too long (at game time). I waited over 30 minutes to buy two extra tickets (I am season ticket holder but needed two extra tickets). While waiting in line I saw at least 100 people turn around and go back to tailgating.
I missed the entire 1st quarter which I am not happy with. I had exact cash but it still took the guy at the ticket window 3-5 minutes to give me tickets. This game it was 100 people that didn't bother waiting but next year it will be 1000's of people that will not have the patience to wait. Although SMU has never had issues selling tickets before this is something that will need to be addressed as we anticipate to have more wins in the future. To have a total full stadium I think SMU will need to learn to sell about 150 tickets a minute about 30 minutes prior until game time. Why can't SMU have some cash only kiosks on the Boulevard? why can't SMU open some extra temporary ticket booths at the stadium to handle the last minute rush? Why can't there be people that direct the crowds to open ticket booths and entrances around the stadium?
Re: Problems at ticket booth
Those are good ideas, especially the kiosks on the Boulevard. However, it is crazy to expect any school (or really a pro team for that matter) to have the staff on hand to sell well over 10% of their tickets in 30 minutes as you suggest. I want to make it as easy as possible for people to get into the stadium, but people (including you yesterday apparently) need to plan ahead a little bit rather than expecting to show up minutes before kickoff and not miss any of the game.
Re: Problems at ticket boothYep. I will definately need to do better planning but this has never been an issue for me in the past 20 years at SMU football games. I will get an extra couple season tickets for next year but the majority of the general admission end-zone seats will be sold at the game.
Go ponies!
Re: Problems at ticket boothIt can be frustrating to get them right before the game but fortunately, I was able to get to the ticket booth about 12:45 & got my extra tix in 1-2 mins.
Re: Problems at ticket boothLines at the ticket windows and concession stands have been and remain to be a big problem for football and MBB! The games are supposed to be fun and fan friendly not fan frustrating! I have left rather than waiting in line for tickets for both footballl and basketball. I have missed a lot of action waiting in line at the concession stands and will not do it anymore. If there is a line I'm gone!
Apparently Orsini cant fix the problem. I will bet that June can!
Re: Problems at ticket boothI concur with the concession lines comment. Horribly long and slow lines. Almost forced me to drink my bourbon straight.
Derail the Frogs!
Re: Problems at ticket boothas far as concessions go, a lot of those are run by groups raising money for their charity or school/boy scout troup/etc. they're not hired guns like at AAC or Cowboys games. so take that for what it's worth. plus, we're one of the few stadiums i've been to that has TVs everywhere in the concourse to watch the game while you're waiting for your popcorn and mixers.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

You may want to email your concerns to someone in the ticket office. I think you have some legit concerns. "We will play man to man and we will pick you up at the airport." - Larry Brown

Re: Problems at ticket boothSMU needs about 3 ticket booth's at different locations on the BLVD. Obviously, we should be able to get extra sales there, and this would help take some pressure off sales at the stadium.
Re: Problems at ticket boothI've had the same problem before. Didn't realize they had extra ticket booths on the east side. However, a few of them were closed yesterday. Everyone tries to get them next to Heritage Hall. It would be nice to have an advisor to point them to other ticket booths. Concessions are always ridiculous at Moody. Unacceptable. Tickets are never an issue b/c there is no demand.

Re: Problems at ticket booth@Moody I am talking about.
Re: Problems at ticket boothI think rather than up my donation to the mustang club next year I will just buy 2 extra season tickets to football so I can give them away to people who need them.

Re: Problems at ticket booth
I think it is a great venue to have organizations work the concession stands to raise money for their group, however, these people are inexperienced in public serving and each stand needs to have a PAID supervisor to help with the process. There are a lot of simple things that can be done to speed the process. Things like, have a bunch of drinks filled and waiting before halftime, have popcorn buckets filled and sitting under the heat lamp, and put people with basic math skills on the front line to take cash and make change. Just send 'da money.
