Won't ND just throw it all over SMU? Can you imagine our corners trying to stop Tate and Floyd?

Can you imagine their corners trying to cover ES, AR, CB and TW? And now apparently, Margus Hunt?

ND/SMU would be a shoot-out 45-42 type of game. I am interested to see how we do against a much larger O/D line

Lets be Honest, a draw of Notre Dame in the Hawaii Bowl would potentially lead to embarrassment, no sterling moore for tate and floyd...thats trouble.

I'm not sure if we really match up with any of our potential opponents well, If we dont get Hawaii for obvious publicity purposes, I hope we draw the worst team possible.

See if you can get your hands on some Marshall tape. That should satisfy your curiosity.

Wasn't the Hawaii bowl director quoted as saying it would most likely be Nevada or Fresno? The bowl has to take a WAC team and last I looked ND was not in the WAC. Although the director did not say it, the Hawaii papers are saying that if Hawaii beats Wisconsin this week then UH will go to the bowl. The DMN confirms this today.

Hawaii has a deal with the WAC. If the WAC has bowl eligible teams, Hawaii has to take them unless there is a trade. Certainly ND can say, we're not going to Birmingham, but we will go to Hawaii. But that would mean that the GMAC bowl would have to take a WAC team. And ESPN would have to decide would they prefer a ND-CUSA match-up on Christmas Eve (when Catholics are at Mass) or get an audience for the GMAC bowl in January. I suspect ESPN will tell them, do you want the $750,000 grand or not? If not, we can fill the GMAC spot with Pitt or Rutgers or some other BE team and do fine.

To be honest we don't have the talent to stay on the field with right ND now (but we are getting there). We barely beat Rice, lost to Marshall (which fired their coaches yesterday), and barely beat Tulane. We need a winnable game for this young small team to be encouraging.

I think we match up better with Notre Dame than Nevada. Notre Dame will also be coached by an assistant coach and will have distractions galore. The Hawaii bowl will be a huge deal for Nevada but I don't think as much for the Irish. A Notre Dame/SMU game reminds me of TCU/USC in the Sun Bowl a few years back- It was TCU's Super Bowl and the Trojans did not want to be there which led to USC getting whacked in El Paso.

I totally agree! Notre Dame is not playing the freaking Chippawas in Mobile. That is bottom feeder stuff. I think the Irish are headed to Hawaii.

I don't know...seems like the year we laid an egg in Ft Worth, they wound up going to the Independence Bowl

It will likely be Fresneck if Hawaii doesn't beat the Badgers.

Nevada is 3rd choice now.

I don't mind the Nevada game. They can run it great and that will cause us problems, but we will score.

Regarding running teams, Navy is not a bad one and we were fine there.

to be honest, I am the parent of a future prospect, son is ending his freshman year of high school and is receiving quite a bit of interest from several schools, but I can tell you this we will not encourage him to play for anyone who waits for winnable games all the while discouraging him or his team by badly criticizing them. Go ahead with the WDWHA. How do you think Coach Jones got this such untalented team where they are, ENCOURAGEMENT.
