One of Nevada's 1,000 yd Rushers out for Bowl Game

Postby ponyscott » Sun Dec 06, 2009 6:39 pm

I would guess this would be considered good news for us...one 1,000 yard rusher is out. (changed the header as no one knows who Lippincott is)

ROSTER REPORT FROM CBS SPORTS

--Sixth-year senior RB Luke Lippincott (toe) will not play in the Wolf Packs bowl game. Lippincott suffered the injury against New Mexico State and was limited to just one carry for six yards against Boise State. Lippincott, one of three Nevada rushers to gain more than 1,000 yards this season, will undergo surgery

Well, that's a start. He's a really good player, but unfortunately, the Wolf Pack has some other extremely gifted runners. This is going to have to be our defense's ultimate bend-but-don't break game.

WHERE ARE YOU, ALVIN NNABUIFE??????

I'm sure they may have other runners but why didn't they play as this list shows that no one other than their top two backs (Taua and Lippincott, as Kaepernick is the QB) had more than 44 attempts all season:

Y'all remember that Marshall's top runner was out, too? That really panned out well for us. We gave up 125 to each of the backups.

That's who I was trying to think of — Nnabuife had those two returns for touchdowns against Nevada, right?

Anyone know what became of the drunk student who hopped the wall at Ford Stadium, grabbed a Nevada helmet and wandered into their huddle?
Still one of the funniest things I've ever seen in a game.

Does anybody know if video exists of that. I would love to see that played on the broadcast during the game

Hi guys I'm the moderator over at Silver and Blue Sports.com, the message board site for the Nevada Wolf Pack. Wanted to say hello and also to comment on the RB situation. It's true that Taui and Lippincott were the main 1-2 punch all year. However, during 1 game when Taui was hurt Mike Ball took his place and rushed for over 200 yards and had 5 TD's. He basically went back to back up roll and returning kickoffs.

It should be a real entertaining game as you will pass like crazy on us. Good luck!!

Usually a team with big rushing statistics has a top offensive line. I would imagine they could plug in any decent RB and do ok.

I'm sure thats the truth and as DC Mason said we will have our hands full, no matter what or who they use.

Honestly, the only reason Lippencott got to 1000 yards was because Taua basically missed two games with a dislocated elbow stemming from early in the Missouri game. Before that, Lippencott was being used at WR for the first 3 games(notice anything about those games?). As has been stated, Mike Ball filled in for the injured Taua the next game against UNLV to the tune of 184 yards and 5 TD's on 15 carries. He's been chomping at the bit to get his time all season, and it showed in that game, and will show in the bowl game IMO. He hates sitting out when he knows he can do better.
