There's great snorkeling on Oahu at Hanuma Bay. There's a winery on Maui, though. Round of golf, a little tasting, good to go.
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.

Just a quick story about Mt. Haleakala...

They will tell you repeatedly not to take a rock (lava formed and very distinctive coloring) from the Park, as spirits of the mountain will curse you if you do.

I had an acquaintance who took a rock anyway, and with God as my witness, in the next 12 months, he was laid off, his father died, he got divorced, and had a variety of medium grade illnesses. He mailed the rock back to the park service.

Not only did his life pick up after that, he received a letter from the park service saying they would replace the rock at the mountain. The letter also mentioned that they received approximately 150 mailed rocks a year.

I know, I know, it's probably coincidence, but it makes a hell of a story.

If anyone plans to take a rock, feel free, but please, make it your OWN curse, and not all of ours. Plan your trip to Haleakala AFTER the game is complete. :-)

same thing happened to Greg Brady.

On another note, THANKS to everyone who's given info on the board and via pm...looks like its gonna be Maui, w/ Kauai a close second. If I ever get back to Hawaii and want to "disapper", I do think I'll check out Molokai. The island's tourist website has some aweome photos.

Probably still some availability left so check on vrbo.com. We rent a house on the north shore of Oahu everytime we go out there and it is awesome!! Get what might as well be private beaches as your backyard and pricing is much cheaper than most hotels. Look at the island of Oahu (as I've already said) and then narrow the search to Laie and Malaekahana. You won't be disappointed. My father in law was born and raised in Hawaii and this is what he insists on everytime the family goes out.

Go on a shark dive. They put you in a cage. You can see Galapagos, Sandbar, and Tiger Sharks.

I may have been a bada$$ once upon a time, but I don't think I'd win a cage match with any kind of shark 8)

Seriously, that sounds pretty cool..

Kaui if you like unspoiled. Oahu - if you take a trip around the island (takes a full day), there are some beautiful sights including farms. Definitely don't miss Pearl Harbor or the hike up Diamond Head. Haunama Bay was great snorkeling the last time I went on Oahu. Might be some good surfing on the windy side of the island (west maybe) this time of year. This is the rainy season there.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

I'll defer to wild bill, the Rush guitarist, and Mestengo on that one

Molokai. The island's tourist website has some aweome photos.

Just looked at it and I agree. If I had time to "island hop" on this trip I would probably make that my stop - I am an amateur photographer and love hiking so I will go to great lengths for an amazing shot. As it stands, though, looks like I am going to be confined to Oahu.

Question about Diamond Head - how long is the hike up it and how far away from Waikiki is it? What's the best way to get there?

I'd like to go to the North Shore as well but who knows if I'll get the opportunity. I've seen some stories indicating that there are 50 foot waves at the pipeline right now.

In regards to the North Shore Tour. I don’t get in until Tuesday the 22nd along with RVG. I was thinking after talking with Mustang Bill at the BB game that Wednesday would be the perfect day, well at least for me LOL.

Perhaps we can have an area we all meet at; I’m thinking the one with the best pool bar. And we need some designated drivers for this.

So should we say the meeting area is at the Marriott Pool at 11:00 am Wednesday Morning? I was thinking that I mite rent a large van. What about public transportation???? Can you take the bus over to North shore???? I love the bus it makes me feel like I’m there… I’m flexible for as much or as little activates with out dress up. Cheap or $$$ makes no difference to me.
