I went on recruiting visit to Tech in 1987 had a really hot hostess. Gave tours of the campus talked up the school told us how perfect we'd be a Tech, etc., etc. They had an official name for them but can't recall what it was. The hot hostess was very popular in SWC in the 80's. Except ATM where there were not hot chicks.

I tend to agree. "Hostesses" have been around recruiting since recruiting began. Remember today's stud recruit is potentially the next NFL star with a seven figure payday. These gals would love to be the spouse and mother of a child for some NFL stud than live in a trailer park for the rest of their lives. Its an investment for them.

Now thats a little harsh...most of these girls as I remember from recruiting are normally well spoken smart girls that have positive sales/public relations type personalities to represent the university. I am sure there would be some that could be like that, but doubt that the schools could take the public back lash that they were proven trailer trash 'round heelers'.

Yes that was my experience as well. Definitely not trailer park girls except the Ag girls maybe.
