QUESTION FOR SID: TEAM DEPARTURE?To the SID (or anyone else who may know): when do the Mustangs leave for Hawai'i? Has any kind of 'send off' been arranged for the team? If so, when and where? If not, let's get something organized!
Re: QUESTION FOR SID: TEAM DEPARTURE?they depart on the 19th around 1000 to DFW
Re: QUESTION FOR SID: TEAM DEPARTURE?here's a logistics question: SMU, like probably every other team, has an 18-wheeler haul out all sorts of equipment to road games. When teams go to Hawaii, I'm guessing there's a substantial amount of stuff that gets left behind. My question: what stuff gets left behind?
Re: QUESTION FOR SID: TEAM DEPARTURE?From what I've heard, they are shipping out most of the trunks and things on Tuesday. It's basically most of the same stuff as a typical road game but I would assume a little more than usual with some things because of the practices they will have. I don't know what specifically would get left behind though, sorry.
Re: QUESTION FOR SID: TEAM DEPARTURE?
I was wondering the same thing. It would be nice to have a community pep rally. With the players, coaches, band, Peruna, etc. /No Hate. Just Facts. Occasional sarcasm.
Re: QUESTION FOR SID: TEAM DEPARTURE?The band's instruments are shipping early next week with the football equipment. So, no haters if they are not there to send them off. They will be in Hawaii, which is much more important.
Re: QUESTION FOR SID: TEAM DEPARTURE?Hallelujah! The Mustang Band WILL be there at the Hawai'i Bowl! GREAT!
As for a musical send-off, there's always the Mustang ALUMNI Band! ![]()
Re: QUESTION FOR SID: TEAM DEPARTURE?Are they flying charter or commercial? If commercial, no one but passengers will be let through the security check point and I would be surprised if the DFW security folks would welcome a large group of people congregating outside the terminal. At best there would have to be a lot of upfront coordination with DFW administration.
However, something done on campus as they load up the buses taking them to DFW would be cool. I assume that is what we are really talking about...right? SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: QUESTION FOR SID: TEAM DEPARTURE?I would vote for a community pep rally on campus, maybe at Moody.

Re: QUESTION FOR SID: TEAM DEPARTURE?It needs to be pretty soon so as many students that are still in Dallas could attend before they leave for the holiday's. This is Finals week, so they will be leaving starting mid week anyway. Surprised there hasn't been some kind of announcement but seeing them off on Saturday would be good but its also Graduation Saturday morning at 10:00 ( believe Sanders is participating and then leaving on Sunday), so there are complications.
Re: QUESTION FOR SID: TEAM DEPARTURE?
Many students are already gone because finals have already been held on Friday and Saturday.
Re: QUESTION FOR SID: TEAM DEPARTURE?It is an American Air charter from what I hear.
Re: QUESTION FOR SID: TEAM DEPARTURE?The last day of finals is Thursday, so, except for those who'll be graduating this weekend, campus will be empty very soon.

Re: QUESTION FOR SID: TEAM DEPARTURE?Just heard that the SMU Team Bus will depart Ford Stadium at 8AM Sat Dec 19, 2009. The bus should load and depart from the north-west corner of the stadium.
