"Bishop Boulevard will become the 'ceremonial' entrance to campus, and SMU Boulevard will be the 'functional' entrance to campus."

Heard that straight from R. Gerald Turner's mouth in 2007.

Nothing against lacrosse, but why would we ever add it as a men's varsity sport over bringing back men's track.

WON'T. Title 9. enough said.
Ok this is getting ridiculous...I agree with Dutch on THIS ONE POST by him totally

Grand Old Title 9

I do not believe title 9 played a role in dropping men's track. It was a $$$ decision. Probably could reinstate the program without adding an additional women's sport. So adding both a men's and women's lacrosse program over men's track does not make sense.

If it was just a monetary decision, we wouldn't have added women's rowing, women's equestrian and women's volleyball.

This might have been mentioned before on the other indoor threads, but if the indoor facility were to be built on the Mrs Bairds site (or something else built there), the side facing 75 should be used for marketing. For example, if it existed today, it would be sweet to have a huge picture of JJ with the bowl trophy for passers by to see. Maybe I'm just dreaming, I'm sure there would be some kind of zoning or NCAA rule or Debbie Downer that wouldn't allow it.

I've thought the old Mrs. Baird's area would be a good location, too. It isn't far from the athletic department, it doesn't use the precious remaining land that's left on campus, and any eye sore it might be wouldn't be located on campus, unless it's going to have a georgian facade to keep with the rest of the building on campus. I can't imagine having a solid row of buildings down the south side of SMU Blvd with it being the main entrance to campus. The Bishop Blvd. entrance is tough to beat.

I was at the unveiLng. The large one is lacrosse. The smaller one is an im football field and 6 tennis courts. There's also a mutipurpose open green area south of the football field.

considering Highland Park High School is building an indoor practice facility as we speak, I think it is time for SMU to step it up
