Re: Interesting article on the Leach fiascothe author-Jason Whitlock-sounds familiar. Did he used to be at the DMN?
Re: Interesting article on the Leach fiascoNope. Before his current gig at the Kansas City star, he had stops at the Bloomington Herald Times, The Charlotte Observer and the Ann Arbor News. You might be thinking of Keith Whitemire.
Re: Interesting article on the Leach fiascohorribly written article which implies that James/ESPN are the instigators. Bottom line, you lock my son in a closet for 3 hours with a guard ouside as punishment for a concussion...and you and me are going to have a problem. Regardless of his status as a espn/abc broadcaster, CJ is a father first. Like any father, you fight for your child. Whether Adam was lazy, mouthy, or a good player, Leach as a human being should know that locking someone's kid in a closet for hours at a time is wrong. period.
Leach is lucky that he is not facing criminal charges at this point...e.g., false imprisonment claims. He is also lucky that CJ didn't kick his @ss personally, as most fathers would have done.
Re: Interesting article on the Leach fiascoMaybe CJ can get advice from Phil
Re: Interesting article on the Leach fiasco
Do not let your child join the marines he could end up locked in a dumpster with his squad in the sun. A trick marine drill instructors used to get your attention. If he is the contributing factor for the punishment he will receive a vist from his squad after lights out. Sent from my KOREAN knockoff using Tapdance 5
Re: Interesting article on the Leach fiasco
"closet"?....what a crock of BS! have you seen this so-called "closet"? a "guard"?.....yeah sure like an armed guard?...lol Adam James is a wuss x 10! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZW-vTsPV5A C-ya @ Milos!
Re: Interesting article on the Leach fiasco
Depends on who you believe. Someone on one of these threads made the comment, what if your boss put you, or made you go into a closet with someone posted out front, guard or not, under threat of losing your job? The kid did not sign up for the Marines either.
Re: Interesting article on the Leach fiascoPlus there is a discrepancy in the eveidence. Leach's attorney has one video-James allegedly took his own video from electrical room where he said he was held. One would assume they lock those type of buildings when not in use-which would appear to lend credance to the James video. Clearly, two different places

Re: Interesting article on the Leach fiascoit all boils to daddy

Re: Interesting article on the Leach fiasco
There's a reason that KW2 was brutally mocked for refering to himself as a "Solja" back in his Miami days. They aren't marines, they aren't soldiers. They're football players, and there is a world of difference between the two. Even with that said, punishment in the military has been toned down considerably in the past 20 years, and I for one won't take that as any indication that our military lacks toughness as a result. -CoS
Re: Interesting article on the Leach fiascoThe storage shed vs the electrical room really makes no difference. Neither was particularly small based on the videos.
The real question is this: What would happen if he tried to leave? 1. the guard would physically restrain him or 2. the guard would rat him out to Leach for leaving, who would kick him off the team. Huge difference between 1 and 2. "I think Couchem is right."

Re: Interesting article on the Leach fiascoSeems like everyone has an opinion yet little information is available. How about this: the firing would have eventually happened at some time if not now because Leach thought that he was "the boss" and nobody could tell him what to do. He believed that himself and nobody else was responsible for the success of the program. He was responsible for the great success and following at TT. He was responsible for the increased attendance. He was responsible for the increased revenues which funded the athletic program. How dare an AD or school president tell him what to do. All he had to do was to explain himself and apologize if his actions were misconstrued. Instead he lawyered up and refused to cooperate with the very people who were trying to save him. Leach forgot that he played a big part but he is not indispensible. He is really leaving a great situation that he helped build. What a shame! Instead he becomes a sad figure who blew it following in the footsteps of Bobby Knight, Woody Hayes and all the rest of the coaches out there who became bullies instead of teachers of young men.
Re: Interesting article on the Leach fiascoWell stated smuuth
Re: Interesting article on the Leach fiascoLew Holtz had a pretty good answer--Leave injured players with doctors and trainers because he was neither and return them to him (Holtz) when they were ready.
