I guess we need to see what ECU does in the Liberty Bowl, but I would think it would be a good argument between the Mustangs and the Pirates. We won our three games in November by 12 points and 4 of our last 5 including a dominating bowl performance. ECU was more impressive in it's November and won the conference title wins but we beat them.
Should the X-factor be the Pirate's bowl performance? BTW, I think Cougar High flatlined toward the end in spite of the CUSA game appearance throttling Rice. Coogs lost 3 of their last 5 I believe.

I like the thought, but if ECU wins their bowl game, I think they clearly get the nod.
Their only loss was to a ranked team, they have a win over a ranked (at the time) team, and although the score was close, I thought we got manhandled by Marshall.
Now... if ECU loses, I think we have an outstanding argument. If they lose by more than 10, I think that we were clearly the best team down the stretch.

We were ranked?????? Actually, ECU had four losses and one of them was to us.

2 of those losses were to WVU & Va Tech....both top 20 teams. Another was to UNC who was in and out of the top 25 the entire season. ECU is clearly a better team than us this year.

The title of the thread is a little confusing since it says from Nov 1st on. This makes comparisons harder since we played them earlier in the season. They did beat the common opponents worse than we beat them, and beat houston who beat us. That being said, both teams played well to end the year and I hope they beat the snot out of Arkansas.
The only game to count is head to head and we beat 'em, though I am a little biased.

I thought we were talking from Nov 1 on, hence the only 1 loss comment. But apparently at some point people who don't read closely changed the subject of the discussion.

so where is the debate? from Nov 1st on...we went 4-1 with a loss to Marshall. ECU went 4-1 (including a win over #21 at the time Houstin in c-usa championship) with a loss to #12 Va Tech...regardless of the outcome of the liberty bowl, when you look at it objectivley you have to say ECU has been better since nov 1st.

OK...it was late and I was tired, but no excuse...
