Re: The New Kind of One & DoneTrue, I'm just saying that as the #35 RB (as someone posted earlier, not sure where that ranking came from, but thats not important) his opportunities to succeed in the NFL this upcoming season will be slimmer than if he waited, had another successful season, maybe played in an all-star game and made himself more of a well-known commodity. It is hard to make a team as an undrafted free agent. Playing on the practice squad is something, but it does not pay very well and job security isn't great either.

Re: The New Kind of One & DoneGood chance for a second look from recruits
Re: The New Kind of One & DoneI get the impression that Shawnbey has always had academic difficulties and college courses are extremely difficult and tedious for him. With his focus on his kids, mother and financial matters it is difficult to focus on the academic side of matters. Hence, it is a fairly easy decision to leave school with the lure of a professional career. The unknown is whether or not he has a realistic understanding of the professional scene ( assume JJ and staff have worked with him on this-- does he really understand?? )and his chances of a pro career at this time and its limitations. Also, whether he really understands and wants a degree, what it may mean for him in the long term and how badly he may want to sacrifice for that degree and future opportunity. I have not really read any material which gives any insights into his overall perspectives on any of these matters. I certainly wish him well in what ever decisions he makes; however, would urge him to think long term and slug out the degree for his own sake. Yes, it would be nice to have him play next year, but over my life and career I have encountered a large number of former college athletes who failed to finish school (for every variety of reasons) and the over whelming result is minimal success in all aspects of life and extreme lifetime regrets at forsaking the opportunity that a scholarship once afforded them.
Re: The New Kind of One & DoneGreat post, my thoughts exactly
