As bad as things were when he was QB, he made us look better than we had any right to look.

I've watched the Ponies since the early 1990s, and Ramon — er ... COACH Flanigan — is the greatest SMU player I have ever seen.
Best of luck, Coach.

Ramon,
Your athleticism and competitiveness made an average team much better and lots of fun to watch.

Your loyalty to the SMY football program is commendable - especially when you could have trashed it over the years.

Best of luck. I predict great things for you.

I agree. Couldn't have happened to a better man.
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Ramon is probably my favorite player in SMU history, partly because he was there for 6 of my 7 years at SMU (undergrad and law), but mostly because he was so exciting to watch and was basically a one-man gang at QB. I will never forget some of those games... two that stand out were heartbreaking losses at ATM and UCLA on the road (two games where we were HUGE underdogs but where Ramon played his @ss off and SMU should have won but for miracle plays at the end by the other teams).

Congrats Coach on the new gig and good luck to you!
