Joey Fontana update — do-over

Postby PonyPride » Mon Apr 19, 2010 11:18 pm

There was a request for an update on Joey Fontana's knee. A post from Joey's Facebook page was copied and posted, and Joey reached out to me and asked me to delete it until he had a chance to speak with Coach Jones. But he then reconsidered, since he already had talked to teammates and posted on his Facebook page, so he said it was cool to re-post. Wasn't trying to stifle anything — just allow him the chance to talk with Coach Jones.

With that said:

Surgery tomorrow... doctors going in to take out scare tissue thats blocking my nerve and preventing it from healing... luckily the doctor doing the porcedure is one of the best in the world... time to get right

Good to get some news. Prayers that all goes well. Not sure what the issue was about talking to the coach, unless there was an understanding that he would.

It sounds to me like an operation to remove scar tissue so as to restore nerve function is a set back and I hope for the best. I suppose it might be sometime before the outcome is known. Whatever the result, Joey Fontana's desire to rehabilitate the knee and get into a game for SMU has to me seemed praiseworthy and exceptional. Keep trying young man! I want to learn some day that you are dressing out whether I can be there or not. And if not, very best and good luck in your life off the field.

Joey was at the banquet last night. Didn't get a chance to talk to him but he really seemed to be glad to be back with the rest of the OL guys.

Pony Pride -

Thanks in advance if you or another will put a Joey Fontana update on this message board. It would be good if it is in the upper box and therefore visible for a while.
