All I have heard about Lutz is what a great guy he is and that he works his ever living tail off. One of the best compliments I heard about Lutz was a Houston area coach, with a top player in the c/o 2011, describing Lutz as "relentless" in his recruiting efforts, even when going up against top programs. Guy is going to be a success in college hoops.

I am sad to see him go but am glad that he has made a decision that will be benifical to his family and career.

By the way, I am nervous as to how this loss will affect our 2011 recruiting class. We are in on a lot of great talent and Lutz was the lead recruiter on many of these players...

You should be more nervous about winning 15 games next year...2011 will be a throw-away again if we don't pick it up next season....Its going to be another re-build...hopefully with BCG at the helm and some new majors to work with....

I had the unique opportunity to watch Leslee Smith's recruitment up close, in real time. Lutz played the WKU staff late. Remember that's Rick Barnes' boy, Ken McDonald and crew. Pretty much, Lutz was around every corner. I'm not sure I realized how good a closer he was, until that final 72 hrs. If McDonald had grabbed Smith, they would have cleaned out Houston w/Snap etc

Never a good thing to lose your recruiting director. Hopefully, they'll find a solid replacement, but in reality, if you're an assistant coach with a future, why would you come to a program where the head coach is on the hottest of hot seats? I suspect contract length and signing bonus would be a part of any such hiring.

Can't blame him for moving on, now it is up to Doh to bring in a high caliber replacement and work hard to keep our incoming class.

The biggest issue w/losing Lutz, is that 2 kids in the '10 class, are currently being massaged through the clearinghouse. All these kids are supposed to report for Summer 2, but none are through yet. W/all the turmoil surrounding this offseason, w/haven't lost that much on the court. That said, this becomes the biggest clusterfuck calamity in SMU hoops history, if the ball is dropped, and one of Vilde/Smith doesn't get through. Pretty much, Mook left b/c he wasn't going to see the court w/Vilde & Smith ahead of him, and was told as much. Should those kids not get cleared, talk about a world of hurt
