Yeah, because Copeland dictated the policy of the university towards athletics. Because Copeland tells the Board and the President of the University what to do. Lord almighty, pick your bones with the poor man but do it with some [deleted] rationality. Show one ounce of knowledge of the situation and then run your mouth. But blaming the servant for the masters' decisions over the last 20 years...thats just brilliant.

we could trudge onward but it will get harder and harder. If the MWC goes AQ and we are not part of it, then it gets really hard. I still wonder what the service academies are up to in all this. they are marketable. At some point i have a hard time believing schools like Wyoming and San diego state can have BCS access but institutions like Navy and SMU don't. But you look at the past 15 years, and its really aggravating that we pussed around for so long. Hope the Hawaii bowl wasnt too little too late. We need to catch a wave now. I dont care if you have to dip into the endowment, you have to do it.

I know plenty - and I think Copeland was a nice guy but did not have a fire in his belly for SMU. I think others could have done more for us during that period - not saying it would have been easy or that there were not big institutional roadblaocks. But he did not exactly over-achieve for us. Just my opinion - no need for you to agree, Eddie P.

blaming Copeland for SMU's problems misses the point. Not that I thought Copeland was much of an AD

Did not blame him. Someone said his name did not deserve to be on a list of those responsible for our "mess" I thought it probably should be. There is no doubt our plight is not his fault - but we could have made better progress faster with someone else in my opinion.

turner just does not get it...he is a polite observer, but he is not a fan...there is no fire in his belly for athletic improvement...i listened to the nebraska chancellor...he said the alums, the students, the people of nebraska wanted success...he did not sound like the faculty was his first concern...we have no real local non alum fan base,so we do not look all that attractive to the tv folks...we are fortunate to have carl sewell and one or two trustees who seem to understand that the dorms will fill up if the kids are proud to be smu students...enough of my rant...good luck orsini, i think you are trying..
