the only possible logic for it is balancing the divisions once OU and OSu go north. The other thing that could happen is that UT and OU could end their cotton bowl game as has been speculated in favor of a home and home. if this happened, SMU fills in the shoe and hosts UT once every two years and UT plays a non conf game at Jerryworld every other year. nah. Its so damn crazy it just might work.

If the Big XII values having 12 members and playing a championship game, it makes sense to move OU and OSU to the north...sets up Texas vs OU championship game. They could do like the SEC does and have each other as "permanent opponents" when scheduling inter-divisional games

I would love to hear the author explain his "logic" for that comment. It can be interesting to peer into the mind of a crazy person.

It is all speculation of course but now they would be in direct competition with Texas Tech, Texas and Texas A&M. It may also benefit them that they are in the Big 12 and have more exposure but they will get pounded the first few years. That is a given.

I don't believe for a minute that we have a Big 12 bid coming, but how glorious would it be to get an invitation to a BCS conference with TCU standing on the outside, looking in?

The only reason I can think of us being more attractive than TCU is that we offer the same television market and would bow down to UT, Texas A&M, Texas Tech on the field. TCU would not do much in terms of TV market while possibly spanking those teams on the field, which is the worst case scenario for a conference.

I don't have access to the TCU rivals board, but a recent thread is titled "BYU and Air Force invited to the Big 12" per Austin radio station.

Chip Brown was just on Fox 4's 9 p.m. newscast. At the end, Doocy asked about the possibility of the conference adding two members (mentioning TCU specifically) and Brown shot it down. He said they wouldn't expand, citing provisions of the contract they're all about to sign.
