Wow, this is a super optimistic post from you these days. I honestly figured that the ship had sailed, and we were past being able to do anything about it. That leads me to a question that you may be able to answer without compromising anything: There is an appeals process, but I don't know (and haven't read anywhere) if that has been exhausted. Is there any chance of fixing this via normal channels, or will it require special action by the administration? -CoS
I really have no idea where we are in the process, but I'd think some protocol could be skipped, if just to avoid the public crapstorm that is around the corner.
People clearly have their opinions on our President, but he is paid an exorbitant amount of money to make sure that the SMU brand remains an extremely marketable and lucrative one. I'm hesitant to believe that he would knowingly walk into that storm, even if making the necessary corrections don't jibe with his world view of how a university should prioritize things. But then again, of course, I don't know much anymore.

fwiw, I'm not sure he can stop what's coming regardless, but he can put a band-aid on admissions wounds before things get noticeably worse, and a lot more public.

Unless you're referring to the negative publicity associated with these denial of admissions, I'm not sure what could be coming that our President couldn't stop regardless, but I have to say it sure gives me pause.

Turner to make formal announcement today, likely supporting the admissions decisions. Get ready for the spit to hit the fan. Turner will be toast after this fiasco

SMU should have told these kids long ago that they would not be admitted. It is ridiculous, unprofessional, and wrong to wait until now to tell these kids that you cannot come to SMU. I expect more from SMU. Shame on Turner, Orsini, and others involved for not telling these kids sooner. Top 25 my rear.

I do not believe Orsini is on the admissions board. Although if he were and this remained a problem it would certainly be an interesting twist.

Won't be today. My wife just saw the Turner's at the Outlet Malls in Allen, Texas. Apparently, they go every year for the after fourth of July sales.

My wife said Mrs. Turner had at least 2 bags of clothes from said Outlet Mall......must be nice to pull in that kind of cash like Turner does.

This committee reviewed the SAT score and "believed" Jeremy wouldn't be able to pass English at SMU, so they rejected his admission - two days before he was to move in the dorm.
The only character issues you folks should be questioning are those of the admissions committee, not Jeremy's. He's a fine young man and would be more than just an athletic asset to SMU.
I know you must be close . Thank you for telling the true story everyone seems to have missed.

You're welcome. I have a feeling he would come closer to passing English than someone from Latvia.

My point: they should of told him earlier. My other point: Orsini needs to shut his mouth about "Top 25" when we do not have top 25 admission policies and do not have top 25 athletic facilities.

Rather than silence the athletic department, a better solution would be to question the actions of the president and the admissions committee. If you truly believe that the athletic department should admit defeat, then SMU should consider ending its time in Division One in order to go through more of the past twenty-five years.
