He wouldn't even be in our Category C like 15 of 17 SMU admitted this year if he is telling the truth about his 2.5 GPA. (I bet that ain't core GPA).

Nice Find,

Good to see evidence that what we do is really not out of whack from other schools, for some reason it just got blown outta proportion on our side.

USF is certainly no bastion of academic integrity, yet they have a process in place to review certain candidates and determine if they have a reasonable chance of succeeding in the classroom.
Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!

For discussion-

a 910 SAT would require a 2.275 Core GPA on the sliding scale to qualify

a true 2.5 Core GPA would require a 820 SAT to qualify

I bet USF was a little more than a little suspicious how a kid who probably was in the 2.3 GPA range was making a 3.5 GPA in his last semester.

Thank Goodness, we are rarely accused of blowning things out of proportion on Ponyfans.com!

here's another very recent example of a big time recruit switching from Virginia Tech to Texas Tech because of a very low SAT. Almost the exact example (Recruit A) I posed on this board. 3.2 GPA. A 540 SAT would qualify him so he must have scored higher to be a full qualifier but not good enough for Virginia Tech's own standards.

here's the REAL story of how at least one of those USF "Full Qualifiers" made the grade his Senior Year-4 on-line correspondence courses and "grade washing"!!!!!-Geez this is looking more and more like Basketball Recruiting which ALWAYS makes me feel dirty. I'd love to know how our BB recruit Fabyon pulled off his miraculous academic transformation to get into UH

"Rather than face that uncertainty, Joyer asked for and was given his release by USF coach Jim Leavitt,"

Wasn't he fired from USF for some choking incident?

so in the last few months we have seen Michigan, SMU, UAB and Virginia Tech deny admission to multiple full qualifiers at least. On the flip side, it doesn't seem to bother Louisville, Texas Tech, Southern Miss.

Thanks for the find Nacho. Puts things in perspective a little although again we really dont have all the facts here. I just hope coach and administration are on the same page in the future which is going to be the most important thing.
