SMU Elite Camp

Postby PonyDoh » Fri Aug 06, 2010 8:29 am

For those playing the home game, SMU Elite Camp is this weekend. Last year, Lutz tailed Leslee Smith all camp, made him the priority etc. Big opportunity to get locals and some outta town types on campus, in Crum etc. This is like an unofficial visit for many of these kids, which I'm sure we'll back up w/OVs this Fall. Bottomline, we need to breakthrough locally. Here is what Metroplex Hoops had to say:

"SMU seems to have a new found sense of urgency as they have made strong push for many of the area's top kids and look to have many of them on campus this weekend. All it takes is one......"

ALL IT TAKES IS ONE!
“When I first committed to SMU, I thought it would take a couple of years of building. But with these players coming in, we should make a run. We have a lot of heavy hitters. It could get real ugly for a lot of teams we play.”- Jalen Jones

But, the sailing and phone calls in California are just so enjoyable! I kid, I know the staff will be ready to rock. Just takes one to really give us a shot in the arm.

Doh, Brown, Hobbie & Raven will all be there. No idea how the search for Geary's replacement is going

FWIW, camp went well, I'm told. Probably not as many high end kids as we'd want, but certainly some kids that would be great additions to the program, a few very undervalued. I know Rivals had folks there, so i'd expect a report in the next few days or so.

Gathers is a national top 20 prospect, so I'd say no, we can't sniff him

also, report on elite camp is up over on rivals. Good stuff
