With the contract extensions, C-USA will continue to be the only conference in the country to have broadcast agreements with both ESPN and CBS College Sports.
"To try to launch our own network and invest the resources with the hopes that we'd be able to get the distribution to be able to make it work is a pretty risky venture," Banowsky said.
However, he sees great potential in a different type of national network.
"The idea of a network, a traditional network is evolving," he said. "I think we're in a place now where a network is something that can be crafted in a digital environment. The future is online."
