Re: DC:Blast from the past: SMU football three decades later
I am assuming that since the rest of the article is about Clement Fox that these quotes should be attributed to him?? I should know this, but I know Ponyte thru the block, right? An atheist is a guy who watches a Notre Dame-SMU football game and
doesn't care who wins. -- Dwight D. Eisenhower
Re: DC:Blast from the past: SMU football three decades laterCorrect. Appears a slight editing SNAFU.
Re: DC:Blast from the past: SMU football three decades laterThanks. I thought so. Thanks for the article; it is a great read. Let's hope history repeats.

Re: DC:Blast from the past: SMU football three decades laterIt is a tad different than what I thought it would be.
I thought it would be more about the challenges and expectations of this team as it heads into the season with my experiences as a backdrop. There were several questions about the challenges I thought this year’s team would face (and how to overcome those challenges), predictions, expectations (which I avoided like the plague as to avoid jtstang’s wrath) and 'advise'. I didn't expect it to be an article with me as the primary subject. Not sure how interested 18-22 year olds will be in an Old Ponies faded memories.

not too ![]()
Re: DC:Blast from the past: SMU football three decades laterIs there a video of that run anywhere on the internet? I can still see it in my mind's eye as I was sitting on the edge of the SMU section next to the UT student section. That put a giant sock in all their mouths.
My 8 year old asked me a few weeks back what was my favorite football play of all time that I had witnessed during my life. That play was my answer without hesitation. Great block by the way, PonyTE.
Re: DC:Blast from the past: SMU football three decades later
Fox, Fisher...what's the diff? Don't be so nitpicky.... ponyte, nice trip down memory lane... I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.
Re: DC:Blast from the past: SMU football three decades laterI will confess, back then I did have expectations.
![]() And I can't think of a sweeter memory to have right now than a win over TTU Sunday.
