You are correct and my apologies to Soup. Perhaps the answer, as asked in Jeparody is "What is Tallinn?", the capital.

No problem - I took a bus from Russia to Estonia so I was curious. Most surprising thing I found in Tallinn was that thhe locals who enjoy a little kareoke prefer to sing the cranberries' song "Zombie" repeatedly, one after the next, over and over - all night.

Must say though that I enjoyed my time there and we did apologize repeatedly after breaking up the Zombie competition with out poor interpretations of Jerry Jeff Walker songs.

Took the bus? You can do better with all that new lawsuit money!!!!

For some reason I remembered Coach from Cheers teaching Woody for his GED singing "Albania, Albania bordered by the Adriatic"

Hehe, in fact I did make my original post from the capital Tallinn, where I spent most of my summer working and went to high school back in the day, but now I'm back in Tartu(2nd largest city here around 150 miles south of it) where i study aircraft maintenance. And I was actually born in Saaremaa(that bigger island, left on the map). So i basicly move around a lot between these three places, they are kinda in opposite ends of the country, but distances aint long due to our countries size.

Regarding English, almost all younger people speak it, as it's usually being taught from 3rd (or even from 1st in some schools) grade as primary 2nd language. Russian usually comes in in 5th grade, if at all. And TV helps a lot as well, as most of the stuff we watch is from US. Actually influence of TV had a really profound and noticeble effect around here in 80s, when north Estonians could see Finnish channels(no censorship, western culture and movies) and after we got independent, Finnish people visiting us were all really suprised, that how come we can all speak basic Finnish :D

Estonian language obviously kicks [deleted], lot of vowels and extremely difficult to learn for outsiders, considered to be one of the hardest in world in that sense.

Regarding Margus, I personally don't know him, but been following his career ever since 2006, when he did those junior world records in discus. I follow a lot of sportsmen in that sense, mostly soccer players we have scattered around the world(there is 1 even in MLS, Joel Lindpere NY Red Bulls), but this American football thing got me really excited, even more maybe after seeing that drama series "Friday Night Lights" and realizing how big this game really is in US and especially Texas.

I used to travel to Finland every 3 months for business - worked for a Finnish company at the time. I started to try and learn Finnish and then realized it was pointless. Everyone spoke English and most spoke multiple languages - Finnish, Swedish, Russian or German. The company did all its business in English. A coworker explained that with only 5 million Finnish speakers worldwide, the language doesn't help you much outside the country.

Beautiful part of the world and I really regret not crossing the Gulf of Finland and visiting the Baltic States while there.

Really looking forward to Margus' 2nd year of football. I can only imagine how good he will be once he really knows the game.

Welcome hint-

Both my adopted kids (now 24 and 25) were born in Kehra, and moved shortly afterwards to Riga, Latvia with their birth parents. They consider themselves Latvian by heritage, but recently became interested in their native birthplace.

Been through that area once, in 1998...spectacular beauty that is still trying to unshackle in some areas from the past Soviet-era mindset.

Well wishes for you and your family...and I hope Margus and the Mustangs give us all something to cheer about this Saturday.

While studying in Belgium during law school, I roomed with an Estonian who was getting her LLM. Her name was Katarina Saarsalu (this was 15 years ago, so I'm spelling by memory), and worked in the Estonian equivalent of the State Department. She was very nice. I should have kept in touch better.

Glad you jumped on board when our stock is rising.

I took the high-speed ferry over to Tallinn about 5 years ago when I was working in Helsinki. I had a great day exploring the city. I think I still have a bottle of vodka in my freezer that I purchases there.

So yo were the guy Marcus played PS3 all summer long with?
I wonder if RGV Pony still has the flags we flew at the Marshal game last year. ESPN will pick it up.
