Great Effort!

Postby StallionsModelT » Sun Sep 05, 2010 7:39 pm

Tough loss but for sure a confidence booster. We gave Tech all they wanted on the road. We're a good team. Very proud of how our kids played today.
Back off Warchild seriously.

I came away similarly encouraged, in part because we didn't play well for much of the game. Padron has never seen a defense that fast, but if he doesn't throw a couple of those picks, we're talking about a win, and it's not even a last-minute miracle win. I know you can't take out mistakes — they are part of the game — but for a lot of the game, we were Tech's equal.

Agreed. The pass to A Robinson down the left sideline that was under thrown was a huge turning point. AR had his man beat . . . bad. Padron tosses that a bit further out there and it is 7 pts SMU - instead INT and a eventually a TD for Tech to go up 28-7 at the time.

We have a lot to look forward to this year. Impressed by the athleticism of our players, especially on D.

I am pleased. To be driving for a potential tie at Tech with a minute and half to go in the game ain't bad.

We definitely look more like a D1A football team. We just need more depth. Keep up the good recruiting Coach Jones.

To a neutral observer, TT should have won by more. But, the maturity of this team, abet young, continues. I was very impressed by the defensive, who battled the Red Raiders on a long and hot afternoon. My sense is that they will only get better.

Padron was pressured and showed he needs more games under his belt. Several passes should not have been thrown. However, he was a warrior, who will come back. Our receivers were young and Beasley got better during the game. Robinson will be a threat. I loved Zach Line, the linebackers and, of course, Szymanski.

Despite a difference in skills, we might have made it back. The future looks more promising.

Great team effort. Padron was off at times but to an untrained eye he seemed to be very smart with the ball as well. There were several times, I felt, he could have forced a throw but was smart enough not to.

We have a lot to look forward to and from many throughout the country who root for other teams - we earned some respect in the national spotlight.

Gret effort indeed as they NEVER gave up and it was very cool to do that in Lubbock. Unfortunately because of that showing we probably won't play TT for years to come....we aren't an early patsy anymore and if TAMU is trying to get out of our upcoming game, you can be assured TT will not be looking for us in their future scheduling.

I would say your eye is in fact very untrained if you believe that. The kid is a fighter, didn't give up, and will have a VERY good season for us but let's be objective and say he made a ton of terrible decisions and forced the ball a lot.

Big difference between being off at times as stated and a ton as your trained eye perceived. Always had a problem with my lazy eye but hate to use that as an excuse.

Tubs says he doesn't want to schedule OOC patsies and most Tech students come from DFW and return to DFW after graduation. So playing to the large Tech alumni base in DFW has been a priority the past 10 years. With this season being our last neutral site game against Baylor (thank goodness), I imagine the Tech AD will be calling his SMU counterpart. I hope he does because this series could get more competitive which makes it all the more fun.

SMU-Tech at the Cotton Bowl during the State Fair would be badass.

The defense came up huge today. It should have been a blow out with -4 turnover ratio. And a 61 yard FG, gotta give some kudos to Jones for listening to his kicker. You know that would have been good from 70 yards.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna
