Re: Our front sevenGiven where the defense has been the last several years, their performance in Lubbock was impressive. Definitely heading in the right direction.

Re: Our front sevenWHAT?
I love every single last one of these guys but... NG from a standing position... NO push up front. No push around the corners. Got a little better in the second half but we need to get better. Heck we need to get bigger. 255 at NG got thrown on the ground just about every play within 2 seconds. Potts had time to throw a picnic in the pocket before he had to throw the ball. I am a homer and love my Mustangs but the front 7 needs serious work. Sorrry if you are a parent and I do know some of the parents.. Be real. Go Mustang BEAT uab. Re: Our front seventhe lack of a pass rush is not surprising whatsoever against Tech's Offensive Line. we don't have a polished DE with great pass rushing technique. I think Thompson will get there this yea at the CUSA level. But holding Tech's RBs to what was it 3.6 yards per rush and Tech to 2.3 yards rushing per attempt is pretty damn good when the Field temperatures are 140 degrees and you don't have quality backups. No big play runs longer than 14 yards ain't bad either especially since Batch should be a top Big 12 rusher. Batch had 136 against OU and had over 100 in the Alamo Bowl against Michigan St. and really came on late last season

Re: Our front sevenI can tell you, it was boiling hot there yesterday! Anyone else notice Czerniak (sp) at DE, and Jordan Favreau getting reps at nose? We can't let Justin Smart try and cover in space! yikes! Still not convinced Ryan Smith is the answer at safety. I certainly don't want to sound like Stallion, but, I did tell a few of you what I feared, when Ken Acker received a punt.
Re: Our front seven
Watching him field the first one, I immediately said that Acker was going to have a fumble today if he kept playing PR. He was carrying the ball recklessly, too far away from his body and swinging his arm too much. Some work on technique and I think he will be fine, but that turnover was a real backbreaker. Gotta protect the football.
Re: Our front sevenThe front 7 did very well. The push is hard to get when our ends were doubled teamed much of the time. And Stallion is right. Tubby wanted to improve the running game and our outmanned, lack of depth front 7 stuffed the TTU running game. We do that against the CUSA teams and we put ourselves in position to win every game.
Re: Our front sevenAcker will be a very good punt returner for us in the future. The fumble was due to poor technique on carrying the ball. That is easily remedied. Even veterans fumble occasionally. I hope they give him more chances. I predict by year end we will all be praising the day that he was chosen as our return man.

Re: Our front seven
Good points and agree...and when we only had three down on the line and dropped back more in coverage?....Potts killed us. And especially when we had our undersized NG.....we thought the quickness would be a change of pace, well guess what the change of pace was a joke to those big talented TT O line. Fortunatly we don't have to face that big of guys for a while....Marshall? East Carolina? TCU?
Re: Our front sevenAcker's first game ever and at Jones stadium. He'll be awesome in due time. And to similarly echo what Stallion said, I would expect to hear Thompson's name more this year than we did vs. Tech (perhaps this weekend against UAB).
