I do not think we will see a defense at the level we faced yesterday for the balance of the year except for TCU. Jones is preparing this team to win the CUSA Championship, not the National Championship. As the quality and depth get better in the coming years that focus will change. But for now, I would imagine that Jones is preparing the kids he plans on being play makers to be ready somewhat for UAB and all the way after the TCU game.

I know we've worked a little w/ Jeremy Johnson as a wildcat/mustang...wonder if we could take that a step further with Fields and Line in there and run a little Pony Express

Why did Fields get caught from behind on the return?? He had a 3 yard lead and gave it up at the end.

The guy who caught him, Ben McRoy, ran a 20.93 200 meters so that's part of your answer...I don't know that he would have caught Fields except that Fields was at the end of his run and had already broken McRoy's tackle but his stride was broken and he was running awkwardly after that up until the point he got caught (I just watched it several times since you'd asked the question).

Can you imagine what our backfield will look like by the end of the year if we get Fields up to speed? A 1-2 punch of Line and Fields is sounding pretty good for the next couple years!

Maybe similar to the backfield that Rutgers had a few years ago with Ray Rice and Brian Leonard?

Line showed excellent patience, as well as power, in his game, as he read his blocks very well. He has improved tremendously over last year, I'd say. I'm also looking forward to watching Fields show his stuff, but he is probably a situational back and return specialist for now. Overall, I'm really impressed by the athleticism of this year's team, and looking forward to better days ahead.

I like the look of next year's backfield even more; the future looks pretty bright
