Did anyone have any problems with tech fans?

Postby Mestengo » Mon Sep 06, 2010 1:42 pm

I actually had a pretty good time out there with them.
The only thing that was said to me was when Music00, RVGpony, Ponyscott and my self walked into the bar next to the stadium to get a Patron shot. We were the ONLY SMU fans in there wearing our colors.

I heard a voice say you got a lot of balls coming in here. I looked over and saw some kid about four foot tall that came up to about my zipper line. I said you got a good look at them don’t you.

April the bar tender at the Overton hated on anyone for being an SMU fan, but it didn’t take long to win her over.

You would think some one in the service industry on the front lines would give you service no matter what team you were there to watch. Not so in Lubbock.

They were ok...had a lot of conversations with them..as long as you talked with respect heads up, it was fine....most all were nice. Except for the fans above us in our section 116 who taunted all of us with the finger...I really thought it was uncool to get their chant up when we are doing our school song. After all its not a fight song...otherwise it was good. Damn it was hot and they ran out of water and were wheeling folks out for heat issues...mostly girls who maybe drank too much??.... and were already dehydrated.
I loved April!.....drank $2 Shiner Bocks for a long time on Sunday at The Overton..

SMU kids were doing the same thing when they were playing their song.

Well, do you still have a lot of balls for going in there?

Seems I remember an OU fan attacking a Texas fan in Oklahoma and the Texas fan had to go to the hospital to have his scr*t*m stitched back on!

I remember that.
As far as the kid went, he just walked off like a good boy.

I thought they were fairly tame, especially in the second half. I never realize 57,000 people could be so quiet. Thought they were pretty quiet as we walked out of the stadium at the end of the game, I think they realized they might have got away with one. Not saying anything, I tip my hat to them, they won. NEXT!!!

yep, the worst of them were above us in 116.

At halftime I went around to the section directly opposite 116 and got in line for a drink. Some SMU bandsmen were walking by and the kid behind me-a Tech sophomore-started yelling SMU sucks! I turned around and said "see, now that's classy"...kid's mom laughed at him, then we visited for awhile and I bought their drinks.

It'll take a couple of years to wash the Leach out of their fan base

really werent problems with tech fans. at least, no problems that werent self manufactured for entertainment purposes.

only blatant [deleted] activity was when i was walking away for this gas station adjacent to the stadium after buying some badly needed water. two ghetto, scum crawling early 20 something guys, one white one black, carrying to two 20 packs on their shoulders, start talking [deleted] as im walking by. i was in poor form at that point, so could not respond. i regret this.

outside of this, very pleasant. although i travel alone to these things, im very blessed to have some of the most awesomw guys as buddies who travel to stuff and set-up tailgates and stuff like that. just great, great guys (and
girls) and im just happy to know them. i have travelled all over the country to watch the mustangs, but its really awesome when this crew is at the game.
