When I was a trial lawyer I encouraged my witnesses to never ust that phrase. Puts everything else they say in doubt.

Is TCU's super bowl vs. BYU, the usual matchup of Boise State in a bowl game, or the mid level pac 10 team that they beat last week. I hope the latter - thus they will have no reason to take us seriously as they have already won their super bowl. Perhaps they will even bench some of their better players so that they don't get injured for next year . . .

he shouldn't be thinking about SMU...nor should Jones be thinking about TCU. We both have important games to play before we meet

It's the host's fault for asking a guy like Patterson that kind of question. He's been a head coach for enough years that everyone should know you're not getting worthy insight from him about a topic like that. He'll go for hours if you ask him how tough the offensive line from Tennessee Tech will be this Saturday, but asking his thoughts regarding the school 45 minutes away that will cover the same ground in five years that took his school ten years is not very heads-up by the host.
He used the perfect answer, it's just that his star presence is as weak as ever, he's a bad tv and radio interview, and his 2010 TCU team is more explosive than last year.

Heard him speak publically recently - and I have nothing vs the guy, but it was a garbled mess - everyone was looking at each other with WTF? expressions on their face. Obviously a talented coach - but he should hire a stunt interviewer. Too bad Chris Farley is dead - he would have been perfect.

The players can take it one game at a time, no problem. But me? I drool over the thought of beating those intellectually under developed frog people.

Who did the interview? If it wasn't Norm Hitzges or the great Rich Phillips, it was by someone who knows little about the English language and even less about SMU. Coaches say nothing when asked questions like that. If he says SMU is great, he gets ripped for looking too far ahead, and if he doesn't, he gets ripped for disrespecting an opponent. They're not going to answer anything of significance. It's hard to believe that questions like this even get asked, when you know the answer is going to be useless. GP was being politically correct.

Gary Patterson ain't that great. Gary Patterson took over a program (with a VERY long history of losing) that had already been jump-started by Dennis Franchione. Anybody remember him? Of course you do, it's the same guy that finished second to June Jones in the head-coaching search that seemed to last a year. GP was simply handed the keys to the BMW and asked not to f it up. The guy is possibly one of the most overrated coaches in NCAA history.

How does Franchione keep getting those recruits to sign with Patterson? And then coach them to the number one defense in the nation? No wonder we did not hire him, he is spending all of his time taking care of Patterson.
