Lack of 1st team scrimmaging is a big problem in the first games, but JJ is more worried about getting people hurt. Maybe when we get more talented, JJ won't be so worried about scrimmaging in camp in the future.

With the NCAA scholarship limits, I dont think there is a lot of hitting with many of the teams, is there?

Petrino beats the heck out of them at Arkansas. They have 150+ play full game type scrimmages and will occasionally go 1st team offense vs 1st team defense.

As I recall, Bennett did a lot of hitting one year ('05?), lost a couple of guys for the year in August and then limited contact in later years, which led to quite a few early season arm tackles. It is just a question of knowing your team and knowing your depth. Like it or not, SMU is still not 2 deep at every position and can't afford to lose many bodies.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
