nice. have you gone out to make sure it will fit between the lines on your truck? they shrunk the spaces. i just went. won't be trailering it this year. i'm 'bout to call the school b/c our area is all muddy. looks like they threw some rye seed down on tuesday. pathetic. you'd think for the amount of money we spend on this stuff they could sod. i'm taking a sack of rye seed to spread out on my area so we've got some growth before the next game.

small and light trailer (4x6) - so popping it up on the grass and putting our tent over it
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.

I have a question for you experts. I'm planning on having some power this year at my tailgates. I think I've read on here about people using marine batteries and an inverter to power some basic items. My question is, what size inverter/battery is needed and how long (approximately) will those last? I guess that is actually 2 questions but I decided to kill two birds with one stone. Thanks

gotcha. ours was 6x8. we have 2 spaces to cram my suburban, trailer and an s500 into. with the smaller spots, trailer had to go.

I did that two years ago. Got a duralast 85 amp deep cycle marine battery and a 750 watt power inverter. Got it at home depot. Got the battery at an AutoZone I think. It worked well, but only for a few hours before the battery needed recharging. anywhere between 2-4 hours powering a tv and hd antenna. it was easy to set up. last year, i broke down and bought one of the quiet honda generators for about $900. i would definitely go with that over the battery. it works, but in the long run the generator beats it by a mile. if you go with the batteries, i suggest buying a backup.

here's a post i found when i was looking at the whole setup a few years ago: We have the whole set-up with marine battery, tv, but also with satellite. We've had that up in running for about 3-4 years. We used an antenna before that and it works pretty well. I would suggest spending a few extra bucks to get an amplified one, which will also require to be plugged in. Thus, you want to purchase an inverter that can handle the wattage of both the tv (120-140 for approx. 27", I believe) and the amplified antenna. I bought one that was 750 to beable to handle radio and blender if we ever wanted to add those.
A few things to think about is the size of the battery, recharging it, and the inverter. A lot of the inverters come with an emergency shut-off so the battery won't get too low. Great if you're using from the car, not so good if you have a marine battery at a tailgate. Thus, with mine, we get about 8 hours of power time before the inverter shuts it down. Great for morning and afternoon games, not so good for evening games when we're out there all day. Thus, you might want to look for an inverter without emergency shut-off or have a 2nd battery on standby. Also, I bought a battery charger to charge the batteries at home during the week before the games.
All in all, the set-up works great, and it's a lot quieter and cheaper than a generator & the gas to run it.
mine never lasted 8 hours.
