Without the fumble the prevent would have been fine. Turnovers will kill you. As someone mention, I had a WSU flashback.

I've never understood the mindset of a coach that has been dominating the whole game, then changes things at the end and calling it a "prevent" defense. Marshall was preventing them the whole game until they decided to put to put the safeties 25 yards off the ball with 8:30 to play. There was so much time left, WVU didn't even onside kick it after they scored the first TD (first 95+ yard TD drive).

I would like to hear WVU's post game press conference...
Reporter: Coach, what about Marshall's defense?
WVU Coach: They were tough. We couldn't figure out how to beat them. Fortunately, the Marshall coaching staff changed what was working and gave us a chance.

The Marshall DC must believe in the old government motto: "If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is"

Marshall needs to learn how to close out games. SMU learned that lesson last year.

they might need to learn some other lessons, too. :)
I hate when kids do this.

It did, they got conservative much too early, and let WVU work the sideline routes to stop the clock. They played like they were scared of losing, and their fear let it come true.
