2nd string KO unit in on Fields' return? So now Tuberville's saying they put their 2nd string kickoff team in on Fields' return so the 1st team could rest.
I can see resting a starter or two who's also on the kickoff team but a wholesale substitution? This is just another excuse he's making for not dominating SMU. The first excuses coming out of their camp were a) that they were just playing base schemes, b) they lost focus because they got up so much, c) coaching mistakes, like on the 4th down, kept the margin closer than it had to be...ad nauseum. For each of those crappy excuses, we can match and raise them with our four turnovers, Padron's subpar day compared to his ability, etc. It's funny to see Tuberville's spin control...I'm going to check the DVR tonight to see if lying or not about the substitutions.
Re: 2nd string KO unit in on Fields' return?I hate to say this but there does appear to be quite a bit of excuse making for the game coming from Tuberville. That's not his reputation to make excuses like that. Wierd.
Re: 2nd string KO unit in on Fields' return? This continues to be the Texas Tech way of doing business. When you act small time, you are small time.
They need to let it go and get ready for New Mexico. I'm disappointed because I thought Tuberville was better than this. Something cornballish must happen to those who re-locate to the South Plains. Maybe they lose all control of their senses? Granted, it is tough living out there. But you don't have to act like a cornball all the time either. The game was what it was. We had the ball and were driving for a chance to tie the game before we ran into some execution issues. Oh, well. So it goes.
Re: 2nd string KO unit in on Fields' return? He must be in heavy spin mode since his 4th down decision was so stupid. Sounds like he is trying to divert some attention from it, especially since you know the leach robots must be after him.

Re: 2nd string KO unit in on Fields' return?I heard him say that on the post game show. There is still quite a bit of un happiness amonst the Techsters here in Midland. They all think SMU played the game of their life I have told them we didn't look that good in the first half. Also told them SMU has played better, they were shocked to hear this.
GO MUSTANGS!
Re: 2nd string KO unit in on Fields' return?I hope someone will drop ole Tubs a line and let him know that was a true freshman and 10 underclassmen (at least for the most part) that ran for 92 yards against his BCS AQ 2nd team studs.

Re: 2nd string KO unit in on Fields' return?Half of that campus will never get over the way Leach depated and will always be critical of how tubberville's teams look. If he is already making excuses in 1 year or 2 excuses will turn to complaints and he will be out the door.
Re: 2nd string KO unit in on Fields' return? If Tuberville can upset texas this year, the techsters will forget about the coaching change quickly and tubs knows this. Not saying they will just if they do...
Re: 2nd string KO unit in on Fields' return?Yeah, but has anyone checked? Was it the TTU subs in the game when Fields made that run?
Re: 2nd string KO unit in on Fields' return?I just watched the kickoffs again. Kinda hard to see numbers but I counted five players who were absolutely in on all kickoffs including Fields' kickoff. One more player was definitely in the Fields kickoff and at least one other kickoff so that six positive ID's. Might have been more but hard to tell...definitely saw 4 guys who were in on the other three kickoffs that I didn't see on the Fields kickoff (could have been in on Fields' return but I didn't see them).
His statement that he pulled his regular players is false. He may have pulled up to five (which I doubt, just couldn't ID them).
Re: 2nd string KO unit in on Fields' return?
Thanks for your sleuthing Alaric and can't believe that Tommy is stooping to this low....who cares Tuberville? It makes me more mad that we didn't jump up and win that game. And Fields didn't run that one in because he has never had ANYone able to run him down in a football game and looked back when he shouldn't have. It will never happen again.
Re: 2nd string KO unit in on Fields' return?
Just goes to show you that Tech fans are stupid, even if they aren't from Lubbock. Did they not see (or at least hear about or watch highlights) of the ONLY bowl game on Christmas Eve last year? And somehow throwing 3 INTs with 4 total turnovers is the game of our lives? Please. I just wish that they were making these excuses because we actually beat them. They are pathetic. A win is a win, so they should move on. Man, I can't wait to see them get killed by someone this year. You know it's going to happen, it's just a matter of which team.
Re: 2nd string KO unit in on Fields' return?just quietly bet big against them
