Margus - My favorite play last night

Postby RumFirePony » Sun Sep 12, 2010 10:52 am

My favorite play last night...I believe it was 3rd and short for UAB, the QB's first option is the RB coming out of the backfield, Margus gets his hands up and completely shuts down the passing lane to that side and we stop them. Subtle play, but one I love to see, especially from Margus.

I saw him deflect another pass. On many occassions I saw two and even three players on him. He appeared fairly quiet though on most of the game. Maybe they just stopped going in his direction? Anyone else pay close attention?

The man is improving visibly every week.
It's kind of cool to think about how good this man will be when he's a senior.

In the 3-4 defense, if the offense needs 3 guys on Margus, Taylor or Marquis, they're doing their job. With all of the stops by the LBs, they did it well! The fact that outside containment was maintained all night on Margus' side and the quarterback didn't run loose around the left side is additional evidence that he's doing his job well. It was fun to watch! Go Ponies!!!

Yeah, showed some football IQ on that play. He's learned a lot about the game.
